Ladies & Gentlemen - very loosely speaking! You do your sport no good whatsover by throwing allegations about and turning people against each other. At a time when I think terrier & lurchers are going to come under even greater scrutiny and threat it is a time for coming together and organising not fighting over the breeding of dogs. Allegations are easy to make but difficult to prove. There will always be suspicions and I regret to say envy about really fast dogs especially those which are bred closer and closer to greyhounds. That is why we introduced the new Novice Racing which - if we decide to carry on with terriers & lurchers at our shows - and that is at present uncertain after 2012 - will be extended in 2013.

My personal congraulations to the terrier/cross group who displayed great enthusiasm for the new events.

Regarding allegations of 'cheating' at Ballywalter - NO ONE OBJECTED ON THE DAY - I took the decision to classify Kirsty's dog as such she ran legitimately. AND the guy who ran 2nd did not object - he was the one who was most affected by my decision and I have been in touch with him and have duplicated the prize Kirsty won. The Harpurs have now agreed with me amicably that the dog be re- classifed for our future shows. That is the end of the matter.

Albert,

as you know I have been attending these events for many years and I have a few all-ireland titles under my belt. My dog Maverick has been an exceptional dog at both racing and showing, he is getting older now and no person has ever approached me with a problem with the dog. I have kept and bred 4 generations of this bloodline ,and have put together some of the best collie/greyhound whippet bloodlines in the country into my lines and I am extremely proud of the results I have achieved. There are numerous close relations of the dog still around the shows . As I plan to continue working, racing and showing my line of dogs that a few are intensely jealous off, I am arranging a DNA test for the Maverick to prove my word is good. I would like if you could be present at this appointment ?

Ballywalter is now over and against a backdrop of economic doom and gloom and uncertain weather, the event took another step forward in terms of number & quality of exhibitors and overall attendance. Overall I thought our terrier, lurcher and whippet judges did a good job. Now we move on to Shanes Castle on the 7th & 8th July for our 25th All Ireland Terrier, Whippet & Lurcher championships ( show & racing) and our Master McGrath & Novice Challenges. Racing will be on Saturday and Showing Sunday. The fair is also very special to me as it is my 50th Fairs since I brought the Game Fair concept to Ireland in 1978.

We will be bringing in some new rules to see if we can put to bed the allegations of cheating and disputes over racing once and for all. I say allegations because, to date, no one has proven that anyone cheated. One of these rules will be that anyone who feels they have a legitimate complaint can lodge £20 and make an objection THERE and THEN. We will not consider complains after the event including those from people who weren't there! If the complaint is upheld the objector gets his or her money returned. If the objection is not upheld the money s forfeit and will go to a cancer charity.

I genuinely hope we can have a large, trouble free and enjoyable event which will justify the time and effort we have put into organising it.

I hope to be at Mourne Show , as a spectator, on Sunday I would be delighted to meet any of you who have had a disagreement with me on any subject. I feel that we should be able to agree to disagree!

Are you for for real!

A similar system applies in KC shows - if you want to lodge an objection you lodge a fee which is returned if your complaint is upheld AND Forfeit if it is not. If your complaint is genuine it would not be buying anyone a dinner! . Easy to complain and make allegations and what is even funnier lots of the people who make allegations on this forum were not even at the events they complain about. At least this system will filter out the people who do not have the balls to make a complaint except behind an alias and who whinge for weeks afterwards on the internet!

In 2013 we are thinking we will take a more money orientated approach to events within our fairs and like other organisers NOT put any money into those events which appear to attract only poor sportmanship AND wild allegations- anyone think of which events will be the first to go!

As I said before we don't need to AND WILL NOT in future put good money into getting insulted by guys who don't have the balls to post under their real names!

Here here well said I am not the only one thinks your a tit

Well I probably am for putting up with people like you. I, at least, am not afraid to make my comments under my own name not hide behind an alias.

I think you should go back to 'cheer leading' for Moira! That appears to be the only event or people you support!

An interesting point of view - HANDS UP ALL OF THE TERRIER, WHIPPET & LURCHER competitors who don't like a good prize fund and prize money?

I must have got it totally wrong in persuading my colleagues to treat TL&W enthusiasts the same as other country sports competitors such as clay pigeon, gundog and anglers and let them compete INSIDE the fair and to put an investment of several thousands of pounds of our money into giving them a similar prize fund to other sports in terms of good trophies and prize money. Now if you want us to reduce the prize funds to equivalent to Moira then that can be very easily and profitably arranged!

TALLY HO CHRISTMAS DOG SHOW AND RACEDAY SATURDAY 9th DECEMBER 23

At this time every year we all look forward to our Christmas Dog shows and this year was no different. Saturday morning the 9th December 23 had finally arrived and it was time to load up and head for Ballymena to the Tally Ho Christmas Dog Show and Race Day.
As we drove along the motorway, the winds and rain swept us along, and it became  evident  it was time to get the water proofs on. We were living in hope the rain and wind would subside as the day went on, but unfortunately this was not to happen.
But as the old saying goes the show must go on and that it did. In the face of adversity, howling winds and rain, show organiser Peter Morgan being the man he is and a credit to the Country Sports fraternity, battened up the hatches, hammered down the show rings, got the racing under way, and very soon the 2023 Tally Ho Christmas Dog Show had rolled on.
Tally Ho Working Dog Christmas show and Race day is widely acclaimed as being one of the top shows of the year, and again this year it certainly lived up to its name.  Although the weather was inclement and the worst I have seen in the 25 years I have been at dog shows up and down the country. But on the day, this show was not lacking in Christmas cheer.
Hunting men and women and their wee people left the field and their homes behind them to spend a day out at this great annual Christmas Sporting occasion.
This Christmas Dog Show is always a very welcome break from the busy schedules of Christmas shopping, but can also be a very sad and lonesome time, full of memories of yesteryear. This annual doggie day out lifts this mantle, brings cheer in abundance, and helps us to leave our cares behind if only for a day and that brings rewards in itself.
As usual Santa and his Elf stopped off at the Tally Ho Show to pay a visit on his way to the North Pole with lots of goodies for the children. This is always the highlight of the Christmas show. It was heart warming to hear the children singing Jingle Bells, and the happy smiles on those we faces.
Very soon it was Raffle time. The raffle always generates a lot of   excitement. Some great and valuable Christmas prizes, including a Turkey.
Time flies bye so quickly show time had arrived.

Judging is not an easy job, but you were consistent and fair, and very successful with the end product.
A big thank you to Matt Lee/Joanna Relf Lee /Matthew Lee for being so professional with the racing on the day. Your experience and input was invaluable, and of this the Tally Ho team are extremely grateful. Well done by all.
Finally, Finally, despite the bad weather, the craic and the banter around the rings was mighty and a brilliant atmosphere full of Christmas cheer.
None of this would have been possible without the main man at the helm, and brilliant organiser Peter Morgan and helpers Conor Creagh/another young man/ and Caitlin Hughes.
Peter put this show together all by himself and worked tirelessly and gave up his time to make this day so successful and enjoyable for everyone despite the bad weather.
Peter your show was a credit to you and you made everybody so welcome. As usual you have went over and above the call of duty with your Trophies, Rosettes and Prizes. I have heard nothing but praise of your show from everybody that came my way.
I am sure there were many sleepless nights, but again all credit goes to you Peter Morgan. Peter you carried on regardless like a true huntsman despite the terrible weather situation and carried out a very successful Dog Show and Race Day.
Stay safe Peter and may your giving hand never want. And TO all my Sporting friends, God Bless you all, and have a lovely Christmas with your families and I look forward to meeting up with you all again in 2024.
      Margaret Mc Stay
