FOUND DRONTAL TO BEST WORMER FOR LITTER OF PUPS. YOU CAN BUY DRONTAL PUPPY LIQUID STUFF. BUT I FOUND IT VERY MESSY AND HARD TO GET DOWN PUPS SO CHANGED OVER TO DRONTAL TABLETS AND JUST BROKE THEM INTO THE REQUIRED SIZE ACCORDING TO WEIGHT OF INDIVIDUAL PUP. I WORM MY PUPS AT WEEKS 2,4,6,8 AND 12 THEN EVERY 3 MONTHS AFTER THAT DATE. THE BITCH SHOULD BE WORMED AT SAME TIME AS THE PUPS AS SEE WILL CARRY AND CAN PASS WORMS TO THE PUPS.

I use both Drontal puppy syrup and Panacur 10% wormer. Drontal @ 2 weeks (panacur 10% for the bitch) Panacur 10% @ 4 weeks (pups only) Drontal @ 6 weeks (panacur for the bitch) and Panacur for the pups before they go to there new homes, It's important to use panacur 10% mate as it desolves the worms, you don't want the new owners noticing worms in the stools of new pups mate. Once th pups have all gone to there homes Panacur the bitch 1/2 dose for 7 days, this will give her a good clear out mate so you can concentrate on getting her fit again. If he tits are slow to get back to normal give her 1/2 teaspoon of epsom salts mixed in her food for 3-5 days, make sure she has fresh clean water 24/7 though. Hope this info helps.

You will get a syringe with the drontal puppy syrup mate, if you hold the pup around the neck with your left hand and use your index finger to open it's mouth, push your finger down the side to open it and use your right hand to put the syringe to the back of it's throat and sqeeze the liquid slowly you shouldn't have a problem with it going everywhere. From 6 weeks of age you may need someone to hold the pups though.

Drontal tablets are not recommended for puppies under 3 months of age.

It's how i always worm any litter i breed mate and i've never had a problem with worm burdan in either pups or the brood bitch.

Cracking looking bitch by the way mate, hope all goes well and you find the pups good homes, they should make great mooching/ferreting dogs. all the best with them mate. If you get any problems feel free to pm me anytime.

Drontal puppy all the way never had any issues with it and the results are there to see.

I agree with both above but i always use panacur 10% as well just incase, I have it in for the bitch anyway as the drontal puppy syrup's no good for the bitch anyway. As mentioned above it's clear with drontal that your getting rid of the worms as they come out with the pups shit. Thats exactly the reason why the last time i worm them (the day before they go to there new home) with panacur, so the new owners don't see any worms. (not that they will be many if you worm them every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age)

I used prazital plus (Same as drontal + ) with mine for both bitch and pup's and had no problem what so ever,

Split the tablets into the right dosage for the pups, Then a dab of butter on the end of the finger help them drop straight down the back of the mouth even at two wks old wormed the full lot without one bit of trouble. And it just got easyer as the got bigger

I went for worming every 2wks altho i know a lot do 3wks...

Best of luck with your litter

I wouldn't give pups under 12 weeks drontal + tablets, thats why they do puppy syrup. It's horse's for course's i suppose but i always tend to read medication labels

Totally agree mate, i only have whippets now and there much smaller than the lurcher pups etc, especally at 2 weeks old when they weigh around 1 1/2 - 2lbs. I only use the puppy wormers until there at least 14 weeks old. If you work it out the puppy wormer works out cheaper than the drontal tablets mate especally when you buy online.

The lad asked what wormer to give as he wants the best for his pups and i have advised what i do

Drontal plus tablets are licensed for use in puppies from the age of 2 weeks old. This information is stated on the drontal website. It also states that their puppy worming suspension does not cover for tapeworm so if there is a suspected tapeworm infestation in the litter then drontal plus should be used.

I've used the method i've described for the past 15 years, on the advice of a specialist greyhound vet. I wouldn't use or advise the use of drontal tablets on 2 week old pups, where one tablet treats an adult dog upto 10kgs. It's horse for course's, but i believe in giving pups the very best start in life and i certainly never ever cut corners to save money, one it wouldn't be fair on the pup or the prospective owners of the pups.

The Panacur 10% treats Tapeworm
