Got any cats ?

Their scent markings apparently strike terror into the hearts of all rats and mice. The food I put out for my guard dogs attracts a fair number of rats, but since I have a trio of cats prowling the house, those rodents do not ever set foot inside the house.

Your not wrong donky, shooting provides a lttle more entertainment to the job, we shot 800 on one farm over last winter, trapped around the 60 mark and baited the rest off. By no means will it stay clear for long, so lookng forward to next winters visits

yes, i agree rats are never too far from a free food source,

this place has a managable number to keep me entertained, the farmer is well happy as i'd got numbers down 90% in 2 weeks to his %40 in 2 yrs.

my methods are 10% rat cp & 90% lead.

Hi, I'm Ray.  I guess you re all familiar with the bent hazel and snare method of catching even wise old rats !  There is some good stuff already on here about this method. Rather than go through the manufacture myself, I am hoping to source some "off the peg" as it were !  Any one out there who knows what works and wants to sell me some ?

Have not posted for a long time now, but there is a probing interest within the animal bloody rights group to out right ban the snaring of animals and I state within Wales though not as yet in England, how do we as a collective argue against this?
I can understand the argument that traps are more use than snares, but we have to invoke the use of snares when dealing with foxes in certain predicaments, or am I mistaken, please somebody tell me whether I am right or wrong, I do not want to look as though I am misguided but the latest snares do not kill but restrain the animal which is a good thing and is being responsible towards the animals well being!
We as a responsible trapping society have to abide by the rules so why are we as a responsible trapping society always covering our backsides.
Is it getting more difficult to apply our trade?.
Personally I do not use poisons so the cost of job does increase, though I do see a better job satisfaction.
At the end of the day its not all about money.
We as a collective can not allow our sheer existence to be erased like a rubber. please fight for our rights as it will not stop at snaring it will escalate towards the usual trapping and eventually shooting so if you care about our rights think first.
