skycat 6,172 Posted March 16, 2012 Report Share Posted March 16, 2012 No, not mega high protein food, except for the last couple of weeks if the bitch is so full of pups she can't eat much at all. I never increase my bitches' food while they're pregnant: the time to pack the grub into her is after she has given birth. Fat bitches often have problems whelping, due to just being too fat, or to having bigger pups. Feed a good balanced diet while pregnant, but I'd make sure not to stuff her with high carbohydrate food either. A raw, natural diet is best. One bitch I had refused to eat anything except whole dead chicken, feathers and all, or whole rabbits, guts and fur and all, all the time she was pregnant. The moment she'd had the pups she went back to eating as normal. Nature knows best! 1 Quote Link to post
