The photo below was posted on a farming forum by a member from Breconshire.

 

"Moved a bunch of ewes to a fresh field on Friday and this was all that was left of one of them on Saturday morning. She's been totally cleaned out. Every bit of meat has been stripped off the bones over night and the skin is bruised all over. Photo taken this morning. My cousin farming next to us had one the same last Monday night."

 

 

What do you guys reckon?

I would say a mixture of badger/ fox/crow and buzzard..

Probably ever predator Within the vicinity that fancied a easy meal,As for what it died of who knows but they sure have not wasted much have they,possibly some good nights foxing to be had there mate

badgers go for the gut of sheep as its the softest part, then all for one after the kill

The ewe died sometime Friday night as far as I could gather, then it was in that state Saturday morning. That's not much time to be found and cleaned out like that.

 

One interesting suggestion was wild boar.

 

Badgers and the usual other suspects were mentioned too.

Did you check for any footprints in the mud around it?

looks like theres dog prints next to its head, bad to tell, the ribs a fairly cleaned off, probably by a beak and some hair plucked , buzzard or crows, looks like a variety of critters have had a meal

Wow! Is that the poop that has been washed down by the head or just mud? As said it's a combination of animals, proper job though!

Badgers are very efficient at what they do and could clear a Ewe overnight without a problem,here is a Roe carcase that was eaten overnight..............

A few foxes would do that in a night. Forget about corvids because if the ewe was found in the morning and it's not bright 'till 8 or so then birds can be ruled out.

must say john i trap and hunt thousdands of acres in brecon mid wales.. its up land mountain and more with no prey like ranbbits etc and very few shoots where vermin controlled.. every week i see sheep skind like this,, ansd you bet you life its done with in the hours of darkness,, fox every where here,ravens so common so are the kites,, with carrion crows and buzzards present to,, like i said the survive on fallen stock,, thats all they got to feed on in the beacons. so any falen sheep dont last long here.
