The photo below was posted on a farming forum by a member from Breconshire.

 

"Moved a bunch of ewes to a fresh field on Friday and this was all that was left of one of them on Saturday morning. She's been totally cleaned out. Every bit of meat has been stripped off the bones over night and the skin is bruised all over. Photo taken this morning. My cousin farming next to us had one the same last Monday night."

The ewe died sometime Friday night as far as I could gather, then it was in that state Saturday morning. That's not much time to be found and cleaned out like that.

 

One interesting suggestion was wild boar.

 

Badgers and the usual other suspects were mentioned too.

must say john i trap and hunt thousdands of acres in brecon mid wales.. its up land mountain and more with no prey like ranbbits etc and very few shoots where vermin controlled.. every week i see sheep skind like this,, ansd you bet you life its done with in the hours of darkness,, fox every where here,ravens so common so are the kites,, with carrion crows and buzzards present to,, like i said the survive on fallen stock,, thats all they got to feed on in the beacons. so any falen sheep dont last long here.
