Its possible to spend heavily over the top for items you really don't need.

This is the basics that will make good sheaths .

Safety beveller, adjustable groover. Craft knife, large darning needles, thread and a block of beeswax for pulling the thead through prior to sewing. wax not shown but from flytying shop or i got mine from my local dive center for £2.

Dyes etc from the local cobblers, and shoe polish

A sheath can be made in a day but will take about a week to dry when soaked and moulded then dyed and polished

My mate bought some stamps also and this is with the same basic tools. From Le Prevo in Newcastle

Note,- the tin of footware protector, is for spraying the inside of the sheath to waterproof it.

A tin of wax is shown but i've never used it, as shoe polish or dubbin is just as good on the outside.

Le Prevo do good sized off cuts at a reasonable price.

The stamped sheaths are made by my mate, we don't use patterns,- just wrap a bit of leather around the knife to get an idea of the length of leather needed, remembering you have the welt to go in (prevents the knife cutting the thread)
