grant for .308?

I just got granted my FAC and purchased my .22 last week. I have since been offered a .308 for free from a friend as he has no use for it anymore. I have just started work on an estate that shoot a lot of deer so a having a use for the rifle is no problem however Im just wondering if the fact I have only just got my certificate last week will count against me getting a big calibre rifle?

Hi rhoderick there is only 2 way to find if you can have a grant for the 308 IS get intouch with you'r FLD or the FEO . rhorhoderick1888

It shouldn't do. If you can satisfy the 'good reason' requirement then there is no reason why it should not be granted.

With no experience to speak of you MUST have DSC 1 & 2 or an experienced monitor.

i have level 1 DMQ which i presume counts as experience?

I imagine that is the Scottish equivalent of DSC so yes. Is there someone on the estate who could monitor you? You have good reason for the calibre, but the law is fussy about safe and humane shooting of deer. If you have the basic qualification and someone to see you through the first few months you should have no problems.

yeah ive got the underkeeper who i have been stalking with and will be in the future aswell so hopefully all will be fine. cheers for the help mate
