Yeah - he's a Hancock puppy. Out of Kubla. He's the 3rd puppy I have had from David. I had a Taffy 3/4 bred and a Richard Jones Half cross in the 80s. I was without a big dog since my 3/4 died around 1995. So after a period of almost 15 years and some incessant ear bending from my 13 year old son we have this puppy. No regrets. He's a real bundle of exuberance and I've loved having a big dog again. My wife is warming to him - it was a close thing for a while - I almost had to get rid of the wife. Nah, joking apart the dog was never ever going anywhere despite things not being easy. I don't buy dogs just to get rid at the first hurdle. My son loves him and can't wait to start him off. We're off to Hancock's mid May to pick up another puppy. This one is going to be 8 weeks old for sure. I have heard of others having attachment problems with Kubla puppies. Is it a collie thing? I reckon it might be.

 

Well done with the dog mate, he's looking really well.

The collie madness aye, I think the dogs can be more whiney than bitches and as bird says when the pups aren,t sold straight away and haven,t been socialised this can cause alot of grief,

The collie madness aye, I think the dogs can be more whiney than bitches and as bird says when the pups aren,t sold straight away and haven,t been socialised this can cause alot of grief,

Yeah he's a nice pup KittleRox. I chose the biggest, strongest most 'in yer puss' puppy on the place. I was slightly concerned that he was 'getting on a bit' (14 weeks) in terms of being a puppy ready to go. I think that was my mistake. Won't happen again. Collie madness - to be honest it was the wife and I that almost went mad???

In fairness, I'm really lucky, I'm self-employed and work outside and was able to take him with me to work. Had I had a 'normal' 9-5 job and my wife hadn't been on matrnity leave with the baby it would have been much more difficult.

Hi mate - he's 3/4 grey 1/4 collie - just the way I wrote it in the original post I think? Yeah - he was seriously diffucult to get on with. It was hard work. As soon as he was out of the house in the field everything was excellent. He's getting better all the time. Thanks.

Sounds like a socialization problem. As some have said,I've heard it can be a problem with dogs got late from David. I also had a 3/4 bred Taffy pup at 8 weeks and had no problems at all.

Fair play for sticking with it-it will pay off.

cracking looking pup, hold your head up mate youve done a great job . i think its maybe a collie thing, had teething probs wi my 3/8 x 5/8 but nothing like youve had. in my experience the guys who stick it out with these type of probs are the ones who end up with good dogs, too many would have given up. be interesting to watch his progress i'm sure with a couple of seasons experience he'll be a belter
