Hancock bashing

Recommended Posts

i've had one,a 1/2 cross from a beardie/border dog called norman (i think).

he was origanaly bought by a fieldsports writer from here who thought it would be the be all and end all of lurchers.he had it for six months before he realised he new feck all about them and decided to get rid.

i bought it kept it for three years, ran it on same as any other runner i've had but it never amounted to anything that suited me,knew someone who did like it so he got it.

another mans meat and all that.

Tote, both mine were bought at eight weeks, very outgoing gregarious dogs, love to meet people and dogs alike. Think the old saying you can only take out what you put in is very valid with dogs.

JDF, fair comment, just a shame a messer had it first, not really a fair trial, but at least you have an open mind on the matter. :thumbs-up:

Mole trapper i didn't say in my post but the pups were not bought from Hancock[i've edited the post]

they were bought from a prick at Guisborough, there was very little chance of the pups making the grade after the way he reared them.

I later found out that his wife had left him and with his work commitments the pups only saw him twice a day for 5 minutes, the rest of the time they were shut in a shed, what chance did they have?

I often wonder just how long this controversial subject will be talked about in lurcher circles..... ;)

Plummber & Hancock sarga will never go away...

My friends lurcher is a 24 inch half cross border/grey blue merle bitch and looks like a 3/4 bred and not half cross, shes a great fox dog and has taken many walked up hares, shame about the conditions of Hancocks kennels and this bitch has always been timid round people despite the hours of socialising hes put in and she lives inside.

Im surprised hes passed the local councils inspections for a breeders licence? :hmm:

Know its a bit of a long winded old subject chalkwarren, thing is i am not defending the bloke or his reason for churning the dogs out, its purely the blinkered views of people bordering on hancock histeria that p..s me off. Hancock owners are like a secret organisation, never daring to mention THAT name that shell never be spoken for fear of fire and brimstone raining down upon them. Its rediculous, if the pup is given the stimulation, good quality food ,exercise, proper training etc same as any other cross, the dog will preform, as i said earlier you only get out what you put in.

As long as a man's jukel suits his needs,..who is anyone to tell him he is wrong...

However,................. :hmm::hmm:

Oh feck it,...none of my business,....let sleeping dogs lie,..eh... ;)

All the best ,...CHALKWARREN... :drink:

I seem to remember a Hancock dog beardie cross I think it was, would it have been called Maddie?Still as you say let sleeping dogs lie,ps like your quote about "keep your enemies closer",Shakespeare isnt it?Herman Goering ,at his trial was asked if he had any enemies, his reply,"not above ground",like that one.Inan.

Furry ferter what are your standards I have been working lurchers for 25 years or so and had a variety of crosses and my Hancock dog is exeptional at what I do most of with him.

Mole trapper I did read the thread properly,I wasn't refering to you.

Tote you must of been very unlucky my Hancock dog was picked up @ 8 weeks and is very outgoing with people and other dogs, not at all nervous.

These Hancock/Plummer threads are burnt out.Why is it that every time anyone mentions either it starts all this shit.As a working dog man I can admire any type of lurcher or terrier that gets the job done, regardless of its name, type, colour or length of coat etc.

Each to their own.

in forty years of working lurchers to a high standard i have always been annoyed at the absolute shite that plummer spewed out and the damage hancock has done to lurcher breeding with the mass produced rubbish he has churned out when was the last time that bloke caught a rabbit never mind twenty let him tell me his stock his proven and i tell him hes full of crap sorry if i offend but the truth is never subtlei

I owned a hancock half cross litter sister to chuckles a great bitch exelled on the lamp and a proper pot filler i had five hard working seasons out of her and she never let me down it doesnt matter if his dogs dont see work how many first crosses parents do most are bred from ex track dogs and how many collies are lamped not any thay i know of nowadays.

at least you know what you will end up with as for the socialising and faults they are down to the person bringing the dog up collie crosses arent a begginers dog in the wrong hands they are easily ruined moreso than less brainy lurchers and how many of them make the grade a dog is only as good as the trainer makes it if i wanted another colliex i wouldnt hesitate getting one from him if he had what i required

To paraphrase ~ just for the wind you f*cking lot upness of it ~ 'Hancock breeds Dogs from unworked, unproven parents' ?

Uh huh. And 'All Hancock Dogs are shit' (presumably because they're bred from unworked parents?)

So, from that, may we extrapolate that any Dog bred from unworked and proven parents will, equelly, be shit? See; If ye suddenly disagree with That criteria, then ye only reason for damning his Dogs is his dirty kennels. It's been empirically proven that a pup of 8 weeks is perfectly socialisable, I believe? 12 weeks and ye might have problems. But if ye bought ye pup off him at 8 weeks? Who f*cked the pup up in the ensuing month since he relinquished all control of it? Digest that.

Now, just for fun; 'Non working / proven parentage produces shit'. Fine.

So, what's the average " Bull X " bred from? World class Lamping Bull 'n Terrier over a cunning. live retrieving, ex track Greyhound, I suppose?

" Oh but, DS; You're so f*cking stupid ye don't even realise we all run 3/4 - 5/8 (what ever) bred Bull X's! " Really? And what un worked, unproven shit are They bred down from? Unless there's this wealth of Lamping Bull's and brainy ex track Dogs I've yet to hear of. Because, if not, the argument about unworked parents turns to ashes, doesn't it? Suggests it really is all about being seen to be in with the in crowd. And the in crowd demonstrates its own cameraderie by slagging a couple of 'names'.

Anyway, go ahead and point out the fundamental flaw in my own arguement. No, really, please do! Because I've never owned a Hancock Dog in my life. Likely never will. Couldn't personally give a flying f*ck about the man or his Dogs. I'm just fasinated by, and trying to examine, the phenominon surrounding this vexed discussion.

It's all quite objective to me. So; Fire away. I'm here to learn - and enjoy learning. Handled well, it can be fun!

Nice first post brookie in forty years I see youve learnt f**k all then.Surely its the man on the other end of the lead that makes all the difference.

Juckler and DS I couldn't of put it better myself. It's just common sense.

As I said each to their own.
