Daniele Santoni 6
Hello, I wanted advices about a future meeting for breeding a suitable lurcher for stop foxes. The countryside where I live consists of valleys, rocky areas and many trees: I need a dog that is fast but, at the same time, is suitable to run in steep areas with legs, feet and ligaments very strong. I chose to use a Cirneco dell'Etna (from working line), a primitive running breed of Italian dogs, selected for thousands years for hunting rabbits in hard and rocky ground. The next step will to choose a suitable breed for crossing my Cirneco and breeding the Lurchers... I'm undecided between the working SBT (from a line that working badgers) or a little size Pit ADBA (from game tested line). What do you think would be better? These are some photos of my Cirneco puppy (6 months old female): Bless Quote Link to post
artic 595
Ciao Santoni! Where about in Italy are you? This dog works in Sicily, same ground too. You would of thought a little more coat is needed there but no. Good solid feet too. Quote Link to post
Daniele Santoni 6
I live near Rome. I want to get a stronger skin, more grip and gameness in my Lurchers but in small size. Bless Quote Link to post

staffs riffraff 1,068
The one that's throwing the best dogs if they both good dogs yours is very nice by the way how do they run more to speed or to stamina or in between Quote Link to post
TOMO 29,479
or of course you could use a ACD ozy cattle dog/healer, there game, perhaps not as game as a pit,, but great feet and skin as tuff as old boots Quote Link to post
Daniele Santoni 6
Thanks for your advices. The working Staffordshire and the Pit ADBA are not my dogs, but are dogs of my friends... I want to maintain a good speed and agility but with more bite and gameness: important is that the future lurchers are small in size, but strong enough to stop a fox. Bless Quote Link to post
