Top 3 patterdale studs in America and europe

Recommended Posts

IMO I don’t rate any dog that isn’t used constently in the ground. More and more every year Black, red and white terriers in the US never see the inside of a dirt or rock set. I don’t care if the dog is 8lbs. Den Terrier or an 18lb. Patterdale if not hunted in the ground and dug to well imo it’s something else not terrier true terrier work. Call me a traditionalist but a Lab at the airport sniffing out weed or oxy is doing job but it’s not the same as jumping into fridget Lake and retrieving a duck 70 yards away. So when I look at a future prospect, I make sure I’m getting one from a family, line that has been to ground. Some here in the state that owns these dogs don’t even own a locator or even know how to use one.

I have nothing against, barn, house, building hunting its fun useful tool to eradicate pest and get fur but I’ll never have a top “3†list with one that is solely hunted above ground in that fashion.

Now with what I’ve just said who has a Black dog in the States that goes to ground more than 3 times a year and puts pups on the ground that does the same? I’d like to stow that away for future use. Take care, Stunt

Ddog ,

I wish you could have made the hunt a couple weeks ago as we had people from 4 states having a great time. I don't talk about what my dogs do as have never been a fan of tooting my own horn. Hell I don't have a dog I have bred to toot about , lol

As I tell you all the time I am up to hunt. I am hunting give me a call and show up.

I would like to plan for the hunt. When you called me today and we talked about it I was all ready to plan the trip. I just can't plan for another hunt that never happens, Like the SD hunts. I have done this a few tomany times and people always back out at the last second.

I will be in minnesota only about a hr and a half from you instead of 16 hrs and would love to see some good dog work. I would like to see Zack work. I also don't see a reason to drive or fly to MI or NEB to get less coon.

I think you have the right idea and it would be great. I myself have seen a alot of others dogs work and can tell alot about how they judge dogs. I have seen some great dog work and have had others judge my dogs and give honest feedback ... In all I know what I have at this point. I know a few people and know how to take what they say .

"Blue Collar" please pm me your number - Thanks! Yankee, I'm not sure about what you're talking about. You've never told me about a hunt or invited me on a hunt. I razzed you about that yesterday. I could have showed up with 'caughsyrup' down in Fblt. but I had something planned for that weekend. You might be referring to the times I called you to hunt when we went out..I'm not sure. I told the boys from Missouri to stop by during the evenings and we'd be home. Two things: I know nothing about you setting up hunts and people not showing up, so I can't speak to that. I'm always willing to hunt when I can and have tried to get out weekly. Secondly, you might not see Zack work but it doesn't matter. As I've said many times there's no tissue supporting his bottom jaw teeth in the front - he's a face-eater as is his son Duma, and daughter Lola both have the same dilemma. I talked with several dogmen more experienced than I and they told me to put him up and leave him alone. I almost lost him before trying to prove something to someone - never again! He's too driven. That doesn't matter, though, because his offspring show well and I have a few younger dogs from the same family that I'm hopeful will 'represent' well. We'll see!

Stunt I would not breed a dog that has not worked in the ground myself. . Although at this time most of my game is in a hay mow or under a house .

Yankee......You know very well that the Zack dog has proven himself over and over again to experienced terrierman, and, has nothing to prove to you!.....Interesting too that you dont mention the bloodline in Zack, Sparky ,or the blood that flows thru the veins of these dogs as well as Ed........Where did you get your dogs from?....How about me and , a dog from my son, and no cost to you! Appears to have been a major mistake on my part!......As far as not making it to hunt, you are right on top of that list......Seems that you need to tell the world what a great terrierman you are......Your burning your bridges fella!.

Boys its just an opinion that all.Dont everybody start turning into a big wet American c unt like Cinderella at midnight. There s 19 pages of that here already.

Bad Bob- Dont know those dogs mention, but that dont mean anything. It really dosnt matter what the dogs doing when the shovel breaks through result is the same , thats just style drawing or baying. When you say "imagine" is it real or imigined? Because I'm IMAGINING Brooklyn Decker right now and she's at my shit shack, but I cant find her buddy!

John what are you talking about . .I am not going to go back and forth with you on the net..

Dwayne Call me ... I simply said I am not intrested in the hunt because people fall threw at the last second. If I had a issue with you this would not be the place to express that I would adress it with you since I was talking to you about 1hr before the post . .

Stunt Sparky was worked in the ground most of his life. .

stunt, this is actually a very good post,i just don't dig unless i have to or "feel" like it. if i was really into this digging thing you or steady would be the 1st on my list to contact. my feelings of the top 3 or 10 or whatever amount of stud dogs in the U.S better have it all, fit,stay,grit,bite,stamina,ect... the total package, otherwise i would be looking for a specialist."my" ed dog i feel is a fine animal,he is bred right (according to the experts),the right size for what i like doing,is absolutly all business, he is the 1st one in and the last one out when barn or brushpile hunting.best of all he throws pups that are really nice, and this could be attributed to the female we breed him to... what ever they do they do it right.

but now the down side of "ed" (and i'm not afraid to admit faults in anyone of my mutts) he got about as much brains as a dirtclod...he reminds me of a out of control jagd most of the time. if there is game to be had watch out he will be there, but if nobody's home... what a pain in the ass.i'm sure it has alot to do with his drive but i think he ain't wired right upstairs.lol :wallbash:
