I find it quite therapeutic to whittle a bit of wood now and again in front of the wood-burner,heres a few bits i did recently:

left is an ash ladle from a local downed branch,next is beech from the stourhead estate and finally an unfinished ash serving spoon on the right.

nice work fish just started carving one piece sticks myself done a few now will try put some pictures up out this morning with dogs cut some nice hazel thumb sticks every one who comes to the house likes them and ends up going home with one for free

VERY NICE FISH ,.......

 

AN OLD APPRENTICE MASTER I WORKED UNDER SMOKED A PIPE AND CONSTANTLY HAD IT HANGING FROM THE CORNER OF HIS MOUTH .......SO MUCH SO HE HAD A GROOVE IN HIS TEETH !!! ....... HE CARVED LOTS OF GREAT PIPES OVER THE YEARS SO MUCH SO HE WORK WAS SOUGHT AFTER SHORT STEMMED FOR OUT AND ABOUT AND HIS FAVORITE LONG STEMMED FOR SITTING BY THE FIRE .......
