Driven hare shoot day in scotland

Recommended Posts

i respect them, they're dedicated hard working men.

i wouldnt kill their birds to keep/sell,i'd leave them were they lay.

i love the wild animals in the UK if more lads do this when the landowners/keepers shoot all the hares (not just small amounts for pest control) etc it will imo teach them not to.

we need to speak their language, and that language is money,we can't pay to preserve these animals,so there needs to be some reason why they wont kill them all.

give them a reason.

I'm struggling to see your argument here............ :hmm: You seem to think that killing all there birds would somehow stop the shooting of hares but what it would do would only highten the scale of the hatred that some have between keepers and lurchermen. What you would be better doing is poach, but poach quietly like proper old timers......show a bit of respect, not for the keeper but maybe for the land that you run. I dont see why saying you will kill all the birds will help you gain any respect or permission from landowners..

we need to let it be known to them, you kill all the hares that belong to us all,we kill all the pheasants.

if we can get this going all over the country without exception,we'll be talking their language.

i'd definitely never involve my dogs in taking birds,so i wouldnt be a lurcherman maybe just a pissed off bunny hugger

that said the landowners where i live dont shoot hares, but there are few dog lads, ive never damaged any property or taken anything (in the field) that belonged to someone else.

i really do respect keepers and even respect people's right to shoot btw,its just the only solution to the problem i can see other than all respecting each others sports (never happen)

thats what bugs me about yous gunmen, have yous not got enough birds till shoot without shooting hares but if a lurcherman was killing your birds yous wouldnt be 2 long givin off

You sound like a typical shooter. Took it up because you watched an Arnie film once.   I shoot, hunt and fish, however shooting driven hares is easier than shooting rabbits with a rimfire.   Rath

shooting hares dont sound very smart,if they shot all the hares where i mooch just to spite me, i'd leave the dog at home and try my best to wipe out the local pheasant population.

i shouldnt think not all farmers want to see all there hares killed but a decent cull on them to reduce the numbers and WHY .to stop the subaru fence bashing crop smashing poachers who do leave most of there kills in the feild for the farmer to see like the hare coursers who course for cash bets kill in the feild leave it where it is killed unless there is a chance of been caught into the ditch or into the hedge she will go. spotting in farm yards to see what will go on the towbar the next night the thrill of lamping out of cars the chase of the hare / deer and the thrill of being chased them selfs sport is it . there are decent lurcher men women out there but far and few between a sport ruined by idiots all over the country

You might think thats a soloution but i can guarentee that wont work. You'd only widen the gap of dislike and put yourself in a dangerous position. I mean your not talking taking a few for the pot your talking about killing large numbers to make a point, i really cant see the "respect" factor in that for the birds really.....

I suppose you would say that keepers shooting all the hares would be a lack of repect too but reading this thread you can quite clearly see why they would want too.

if you could absolutely guarantee that killing all the hare's on your land would lead to all the birds going, would you still shoot them all?

if lurcher lads can get organised up and down the country this could be the norm.

if they caught me and gave me kicking then so be it,out again early the next morning,if anything worse ive got friends and family who'll return the favour.

compromising doesnt work, and respect has to be earned, the only reason the old timers respected the land was because wrecking fences etc would bring a lot more heat on them,if they didnt take birds it was the same reason.

we need to make people respect hares like the keepers made/make people respect their pheasants.

What age are you?

You are either younger than say 10, or are a genuine window licking special-needs reject.

FFS get a grip and learn to think before you speak, save you looking like a retard.

Respect is mutual and the likes of you are why dogmen are looked down upon by everyone else.

robo-christ what world do you live in?!

Blue (white) hares are normally shot (as already stated) to get them off the fell because of the amount of ticks that they carry. They need to be really out not just one or two taken by lurchers.

Brown hares are shot mainly for two reasons crop protection and to stop coursing. Not because all shooters hate dog men, because of the problem that the gypos and rogue dogmen cause by smashing gates, driving across drilled fields and generally disrespecting the farmers/land owners.

Before anyone jumps up bleating about how im a typical shooter then id like to add that i enjoy going out with the terriers and lurchers just as much as with the gun.

Robo christ your a fecking crack pot shut the hell up...

You would not have the balls, skill or determination to deviate an entire estates pheasant population..

Sure if you got caught doing that you would get more than a slap you would get the jail...

You are making decent law abiding lurcher folk look like idiots not many will share your view

Shotgun Tim,

If you shot anyones dog that would be the end of your sport. Actually I hope you do shoot one and lose your guns.

You shouldn't be allowed guns threatening people with them, i'm sure your FEO will be interested in seeing what you have written.

robos attituide is why keepers and farmers look on lurcher men with distaste, and you are the flip side to that coin, with your gung ho attitude of shooting dogs.well i say that you prob havent shot anyones dog in your life.i think most keepers will run the reprisal issue through his head first, before squeezing that trigger.

Well, this thread really has brought every idiot out of the closet!

The whole range of THL debates, anti dogmen, anti shooting, wholesale destruction of pheasants in revenge for hares, poachers, gypsies and finally the dog shooting debate!

You're all mental, LACS will have this printed out and pinned to their office wall to laugh at!!!
