Strong Stuff 2,171 Posted January 13, 2011 Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 Anyone who could possibly think sleeping alone every night,not earning money,not being close to a woman,having no real friends around you,rotting away and being forgotten about is something to brag about has clearly not spent enough time away to understand just what a shitty waste of time it is...and any prick who says " i dont care i could do the time standing on my head " like some of the complete divs you hear about needs to realise it dont impress proper people,prison is an embarrassment that nobody should want to brag about. We all make mistakes,some of us are lucky enough to get good guidance and learn from it....others will be too big and tough to admit they are wrong....I was fortunate enough to meet a very good man in Wandsworth prison back around 95 who gave me great advice and encouragement which thankfully i had the sense to act on,his name was Gary Taylor who was a former world strongest man competitor......and the toughest most menacing screw you could ever wish to meet....a very strong man but a fair man with great principals. Years later i invited him to my gym around 01/02,he was as pleased as i was to see the advances i had made in life and body...a very sincere man who i will always be grateful to...... These toughies who think all screws are this and that,who think its hard and clever to be in and out of jail....grow up !....im no mother theresa but i hate hearing about younguns going away thinking its clever....its the lowest of the low which if your unfortunate enough to end up in your just a simple fool if you dont learn from it. Thats my good deed for the day Spot on Gnash ,im not proud of some of my past , but i thank prison for two massive things in my life , in 88 in jail i used to watch lads out lamping the land near the jail , i came out and got my first lurcher , then in 97 inside i got back into playing rugby , passed my coaching badges , later , got my son into it , he now represents his county and ironically his coach is one of the prison gym screws who i got on well with .There are criminals in all walks of life , some have learnt some never will , but you can take some positives out of a bad time . lanesra 3,961 Posted January 13, 2011 Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 came out of jail for the last time 24yrs ago , had kids and can honestly say im glad i went and experienced it ,it enabled me to educated my son on most aspects off life includin jail , he has learned from my experiences/mistakes and i feel because i could speak to him about life and i painted the real picture of prison he was under no illusion of how clever or glamouras it is, he is now aged 20 livin in America playin football and studying sicology he served his time as a printer (unlike me a prisoner)after leavin school, got his papers fully qualified , in his final yr as an apprentice he done what he needed to go to the states and live his dream. Was only working in them though Was offered a full time job in The Mount, but no way I could have handled being locked up for 9 hour a day. what were u working as inwoodhill is paddy dave the maintenance man still there ? Pest control contract, was always a bit weird to look across one of the yards at movement and see a smirking face I recognised, there but for the grace of god... but luckily I learnt the difference between right and wrong from others examples! aswell as how best not to get caught. Going into the dog section was fascinating, as they had poloroid type photos of the baddest in the prison, the ones they had to keep an extra eye on at movement because of escape, reminded me of Mcvicar when they are reading their own files. "would not hesitate to harm on an escape" & "has access to helicopters". Going into one house block always left me cold, especially when my escort would take great pleasure in telling me what some where in for. When I got the job offer at The Mount (for my original trade) I was well chuffed as it would get me of the sites in winter, but id just started my pest control business, and 2 reasons why I didnt take the job, 1st was no mobile phones, so no way could I make appointments for my new business, and secondly, they said that now and again I would be given a prisoner as a labourer to prepare the fella for release (work situation), no problem there, could be a good craic. But then they told me the prisoner might have been convicted of a crime which I wouldnt agree with (sexual crimes of all descriptions was what they were saying), and how would I cope with that, well at the interviews I gave them all the right answers, but when they offered me the job..... I couldnt sleep for thinking about that. As a kid I was around some children that deserved revenge, and every time something new is in the media I feel the same, I know myself well enough to say I wouldnt have lasted very long before spazzing out or cracking up. Talking to a fella of late, he was telling me how he knows of a few firms (he was an alrm installer or electrician I think), who have gone bust due to all the extra time they didnt allow for security protocol, got to say I had a great free reign due to the nature of my work. I did have to wear a balaclava (as adviced) for one job though, I can understand why youd get upset when your only visitor is about to be culled in front of you! Be good.. rikjd 8 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Share Posted January 14, 2011 never been arrested toed the line a couple of times and nearly went down the wrong path but thankfully i met some good lads who im still really good mates with who dragged me out of the slump i was heading into, now i wouldnt dream of putting myself into a situation where i could end up doing time as my little brother needs me, not to mention the dogs!
