death klutch mole trap

The Death Klutch DK-1 trap is designed for gophers, not for moles, and I used them for over 10 years. Occasionally, we would get moles come down a gopher tunnel into a a DK-1 trap we had set for gophers, and they were medium effective in catching the moles. The jaw spread is much too big to fit into a mole tunnel, so we never intentionally set them for moles, as that would require enlarging the tunnel a lot.

THEY WORK A TREAT TAKE IT FROM ME.

Hope you are right there fellah :hmm:

Been using Steve Albano's (Trapline) traps for a while now, and they are ideal for certain situations..

I've also got some 'No-Mole' (French style) traps coming in, for a tryout,..they seem to be a tad on the awkward side, compared to my Talpa's,..but, I will certainly give them a fair crack of the whip,..WHEN this fecking shite weather, finally breaks :censored:

yes they are a bit fiddely to set when you hands are numb and wet but i have been catching with them the only down side is that you have to set two of them compared to one half barrel but they do have thire uses make sure that you peg them down handy little trap though KC70 and i also will be glad to see the back of this weather work starting to back up now.

Kc70 Just bought another 30 these are the dogs bolloxs nice and light fully subterranean

Cant wait for this snow to go handy for tracking  but shit for laying mole traps

i have to say , when i first saw these little traps and spoke to steve about them, i thought they wouldn,t be any good for setting numbers of traps , but since trying them, i reckon with practice you could set them fairly quickly , i read somewhere , could have bin on here, that they work well in frosty weather as they are not affected due to being up the tunnel rather than in the tunnel and covered , if i were starting up again i would have a good number of these traps as back up for frosty weather as working is better than twiddling thumbs

Logun, Mark had them confused with our Trapline mole traps. I don't think he's used the Death Klutch gopher traps for moles in the UK.

I don't think the Death Klutch traps are suitable for moles in the UK or anywhere else. They're too big. But I have caught many moles in them, as I said above.

Hello to the mole catchers. I only recently discovered these forums & Hunting Life. Lots of interesting stuff posted on here.
Part of my duties as a maintenance man on a private estate is pest control and that's how I got into mole catching. I'd done plenty of rats, mice, wasps and ants etc before the mole hills started bubbling up, so I found an old Duffus in a drawer and went from there. I started doing private mole jobs last year - all gardens so far - and have started generating a useful 2nd income out of it. Just beer money at the moment but more than enough for a few pints. I like the work and am fascinated by all the different traps and their suitability to different situations. I use a lot of Traplines and I'd be interested to have other opinions on them - the good, the bad and the ugly if you like. Although I carry Duffus and Talpex, I've gotten into the bad habit of defaulting to tlines which has revealed that certain moles won't have anything to do with them - they seem to just chuck 'em out the way. They also often fire without catching. Not on every job, but often enough to remind me that there is always another tool for the job. I really like the Trapline, and I'm working on refining my setting technique constantly. Just wondered what other mole men's experiences with them were. And to say hello.

      Just out of interest......

Which trap do you reach for first? You can explain why if you choose.

For me, it's the Duffus every time, although I can see the attraction of the Talpex type traps.
