Nell 1
Do you all remember what it was like when you were young/first getting into this job and how keen we all were, are you all still as keen now? I remember when I first got into dogs about 10 years ago, Lamping was my first ever venture, I used to walk about a 15 mile round trip to have a decent nights lamping , and I nearly pissed myself with excitement when we squeaked our first fox in (well I was only 14 at the time!! ). When I was a little bit older I remember the day's when I would go lamping for a couple of hours, then go to work an 8 hour night shift, come home and go for a days ratting. Things "slowed down" when my little lad was born about 18 months ago and I wasn't getting out as much as I would have liked, still having the odd day out here and there, but nothing like as often as I used to do. But now the fever has started to hit me again!!.....I don't suppose I ever lost it really and I can't really see me walking 15 miles for a bit of lamping LOL, but like I said things just "slowed down" a touch. But now this past couple of months, I have been out morning, noon and night lately and the wife has bearly seen me , but you wont hear me complaining about that!!! I cant even concentrate at work without daydreaming about what we caught the day/night before, what the next day's sport will be, what dogs I'll take etc. maybe I just need to get out a little more often :11: Your thoughts, ladies and gentlemen........................... Guest Macnas
You'll find yourself cutting your cloth to suit your measure mate! Before I was married I'd be out every hour god gave me, if I could manage it. After our first child everthing stopped for ages, after the second I made a promise to myself that I'd be out once a week at least, whatever the weather, whatever time of year. And for the past 6 years that's how it's been. Not as much as I'd like, but enough to get by.

Simoman 110
It's a difficult balance, I get out one night a week with the occasional day here and there. Unfortunately(along with many others i'm sure) I work longs days and regular weekends and I also have a wife and two young children so unless I want to become single then I have to try and find a happy medium.
