Hannah4181 260
I can never remember the name of it . . . . . . But anyway, my JRT has over the last year or so occasionally suffered with what i call "terrier 5th gear"! . . . . it has never bothered him, and normally he'll skip on 3 legs for a few strides and then back to four, repeating this throughout the walk. I had them out yesterday and noticed from the offset that he was carrying the leg a lot more than usual, stopped to take a phone call and heard a yelp, turned to see the lurchers looning around at full tilt, just past the terrier. I have a suspicion that they ran into him, however didn't see them do it. The rest of the walk the terrier didn't weight bare on the leg again. On returning home and getting up from the fire in the evening, he was obviously in discomfort on the leg, still not weight baring. I gave him some anti imflammes and he took to his bed for the night. Today he is still in the same state and although appears to be 100% himself (launched an assault on a passing collie without problem) . . .. the leg is still not being put down. I've done the obvious checks and can see no foreign bodies in his feet, there is no wounds, and the leg does not appear tender to the touch as it would if heavily bruised, or when stretched/flexed. It does however make a "clunking" sound around the knee joint when i manipulate it. The dog allows me to do this without problem. I'm pretty sure its down to the lurchers hitting into him, he'll be off to the vets in the morning for a check. I just wanted to gain some more advice on the knee slipping condition, does it progress? can it be treated? What are the results like after treatment? Any info welcome. Many thanks.
