JonathanKent 16
BASC have a guide on what to put on your application: http://www.basc.org.uk/en/utilities/document-summary.cfm/docid/6DADB271-D8D5-4EEF-B71B486DEB7A38C2 it says the following about quantity of amunition ( Page 4 last three paragraphs): 'For .22 rimfire the usual quantity would be 750 or 1,500 rounds, depending on how much shooting you do and how easy it is to get fresh supplies. This will allow you to buy another 500 or 1000 before you run out (see Question 21). For serious target shooters or rabbit controllers the required quantity may well be much greater so that a good stock, (all of one batch number so as to maintain the rifle’s zero), can be purchased at one time. For centrefire calibres it is more usual to have up to 250 rounds per calibre in this section, which allows the purchase in good time of further supplies of ammunition. Your favourite brand, bullet weight and bullet type may be difficult to obtain so enter enough to ensure that you do not run out. If you live a long way from your nearest dealer or if supplies are particularly difficult it may be sensible to increase the figure. If your rifle(s) are held for pest shooting or deer control don’t forget that cartridges loaded with expanding bullets and even the bullets themselves are prohibited unless there is a condition on your Firearm Certificate allowing you to acquire and possess expanding ammunition. Make sure you ask for the correct condition if you want to use soft or hollow point bullets. Since the bullets count towards your total holding, ensure that you have asked for sufficient – particularly as bullets for re-loading are normally sold in 100’s. Question 21 Quantity of ammunition you wish to purchase at any one time. This will be less than the quantity at the previous question so as to allow for purchasing fresh ammunition before you run out. For .22 rimfire the usual quantity is 500 or 1000 rounds; for centrefire calibres, 100 rounds, but see note above if supplies are likely to be difficult.' Hope thats helpful. kenny14 656
How much .223 & .243 ammo does you FAO allow on your ticket? Just wondered how different counties vary. My ticket issued by Cleveland police, allows possession of 200 .243, and purchase of 100 at a time (this was the same when I had a .222). In .22 rimfire I can purchase 500 and possess 600. These quantities have remained the same when I moved to N. Yorks. Quote Link to post
AzMaN 0
my ticket alows me to buy 300 of both .223 and 6.5x55 (including expanding) and hold 500, im with bedfordshire i can also buy 1000 .22 and hold 1500 .22 at a time. although i dont hold anywhere near 500 centerfire rounds (more like 100) the fact i can buy 300 at a time means i can buy bulk box's of V-max heads (250's) to keep the cost of reloading down a touch.
