bait for bass

anyone know best bait for bass ? i been a lot lately loads of bass showing up i fish the river thames between estuary and QE2 bridge at dartford had a few nice ones 3 lb to 6lb but some being caught up to 15lbs mostly caught them on lugworm but one i caught had stomach full of clear shrimps so i caught a load of shrimps in local area with fine mesh net but they no good as bait did,nt get a bite but lug seems good

Ragworm is the preferred bait where I fish for Bass & used by everyone...But I have NEVER got them on rag. Sandeel or peeler has been successful for me, and I have also seen them taken on Mackerel and blueys.

cheers for that never tried rag but crab mackeral and sandeels i have with no luck ..........i,ll give the rag a try

Generally I use lugworm or frozen sandeel. Live sandeel (if you can get it) is deadly. Have tried live prawn under a float...with only a little success. Pesky Wrasse!

fresh crab,lug worm, seems to be the best here in ireland,tryed black lug,squid,rag worm never much look .sea fishing seems to be very quite last two years,

Fresh lug, razor, softback/peeler crab, squid, mackerel, etc. Most of them work on their day round here. I always like to use what sort of bait is in the area I'm fishing in if I can.
