makes alot of sense that post dan, i think a bull x would get a season of work on them then have to be pts, as some bull x choose to fight there prey rather than deal with it

think i would prefer a dog that would catch and hold on anywhere especialy if it was mob handed

However from what i have gathered a coyote dog is expected to use a bit of brain and skill and avoid the sharp end if possible untill the right time to take the throat hold.

 

 

Your whole post was great first of all. Secondly I just wanna commend you for understanding. I do want to let you know that there are dogs out there so fast and so explosive and powerful though that the human eye cannot hardly tell that they were avoiding the sharp end but after dozens of kills and a dog never gettin a hair harmed on his or her perty little head one has to come to the conclusion that they dont like the sharp end at all.

i'd love to but can't right now or for a while. we are having a house built in UT so money is going to matter for a while. and then i got to get my boys settled enough that momma isn't in tears when i call before leaving work.

in the mean time, i take him & my inlaws neglected lab w/ me when i go into the mountains scouting for the bow elk season. and every so often i take him out specifically looking for jacks & fox. it's putting the edge back on him & me.

Howdy Tiff,

February 2007. One of Fishwife's co-workers found a pile of newborn puppies under her car in an apartment complex in Dallas. Only one was still alive. Don't know anything about his breeding. Nothing came of flyers or from the apartment manager. We hand-raised him. Didn't know if he was a poodle, possum or pitbull. Grew into this hairy mutt. Acts like a bitch sometimes but really is a dog (minus his manly bits now).

 

I hunt, but don't know anything about hunting with dogs.

I'm here to learn.

haven hunted in the states for ten seasons , and hunted hear for near enough 28 there dogs here that wouldmake coyote hounds had some , and my mates they were 70 plus saluk croses killed everything foxes were nothing lifted heaveir qaurry of the air ,,but in general the coyote hound is the dog but not to hard to replicate here if bred [bANNED TEXT] ,ive saw alot of coyote dogs very poor just like the british lurcher ,but the good coyote hounds are in aleague of there own saw them and got pics hunted with them

we could do it here if with the right dogs, worker to worker. You need dogs that can stay sound, with good feet.use breeds (saluki,deerhound,bull,grey,) if you get it right , speed,agilty,stamina,guts.Lets face it the stags in the USA,are killing 40lb yotes, in Oz will tackle+hold wild boar, and can kill if needed dingos 50lb. The popular type here is a bullx,which do a good job on the quarry with have here.Had 2 myself, but how many stay sound enough, and can last long enough.? You still can get the tencity, and prey drive from the above breeds in the mix.pre ban this type of x would make great fox dog,it would be feck all to them. There seems a (obsession) in the uk to breed a dog more for tough looks, than what it does in the field. We could breed as good dogs or better,of the above breeds to make great lurcher, than the USA or Oz lads, if we wanted to no prob lads. food for thought
