wildfowling scotland

hi all

my dad and uncle and a few friends of thers use to visit scotland every season for some wildfowling, i went with them a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it.

we shot at cruden bay near aberdeen.

I heard it was legal to shoot anywhere on the coast below high water mark in scotland without paying a fee, subscribing to any club(s) or telling anyone etc

is this still the case or are ther more rules on it now?

i am wanting to go back to scotland in january and try my luck on cruden bay, findhorn bay and cromarty....can i do this without paying or asking permission etc??

please help

I would be extremely surprised if this was the case, can't imagine the law being that relaxed!

Apart from NNRs and LNRs, where permits are required, there is a general right for the public to go wildfowling on the foreshore in Scotland. Provided that you are a BASC member, give the BASC Scottish Office a ring to check on the particular area you intend to visit.

When did they change the law to force the public to join basc before they could excercise their Right to shoot wildfowl on the foreshore below the high water mark? I would suggest you join one of the organisations offering insurance and advice because you definately need both for wildfowling in Scotland as the recent accident shows.

Sorry - I could have made that clearer. You do not need to be a BASC member to shoot on Scottish foreshore, but you should be if you are seeking advice from BASC.

i have spoke to basc scotland and got all the information i need.

i didnt hear any mention of paying someone 50quid!?
