Ringed Greylag

Recommended Posts

We shot a neck and leg ringed Greylag the other day at Eccup Resevoir near Leeds, just found out by chance on a ringers website that its at least 7 years old. My question is, is it going to be a tough old buggar to eat :o

so you bid for the goose shooting lease at Eccup then! Good man to know.

Take a look at euring.com

Greylags can live for up to 40 years.......outwith hunting pressure....

So a 7 year old is still a young-un

Besides....there are so many recipes to use with older birds it doe snot matter...try a confit

Send the details into this website, basically just date and location, and you will get a reply telling you where and when it was ringed. I would suspect Nosterfield in North Yorks as they were doing some greylag research there.

Yes Mudman it was ringed at Nosterfield in 2002, ive reported it to BTO in London but happened upon a local ringers website showing the bird being neck ringed :o:clapper: , this gave me the age and location.
