Anybody know how much it costs to reduce a fixed choke barrel from 3/4 to 1/2 choke ?

Phoned gun dealer today - budget on £-£100 - wow only want it for the marsh and steel shot.

Don't bother with gun dealers. Most send out to a smith, then add their mark-up. Check around for a local gun smith. 3/4 opened to 1/2 is only about .010" to hone out. The last one I had done was about 30 quid I think.

In his 2nd post, welshboy says he want's to shoot steel. I think he is doing the right thing to get the choke eased a bit. Pretty sure 1/2 choke max is recommended by most cartridge makers for steel. This is due to no deformation of the pellets, on the outside of the shot column as it passes through the restriction. So it should not be "squeezed" too much.

just had a franchi opend out a bit ,top barrel was a tight half, and now just under, as i want to put steel through it, 25 quid
