The club would very much appreciate your support, and will endeavor to make this day a memorable Sporting and Fun day for all. So put this date Sunday 3rd November 19 in your diary, as Mr Fox tells me he will not be available on that day. He is going to the beauty parlour to have his nails done. Dont You Forget Now.

  4. STATEMENT. The tablets found in a dogs cage at the lurcher racing at the game fair have been found to be propriety pain killers. They apparently were offered to a dog wrapped up in a digestive biscuit [not meat as had been reported]I It would appear the dog did not take any. We obviously deplore the actions of person trying ti administer tablets to any dog at the fair or indeed at any event but we are at a loss to understand what the person taking this action hoped to achieve as arguably the contents of the tablets could have enhanced rather than adversely affected the performance of the dog. We would make it clear that any person interfering with or attempting to interfere with any competitors dogs at the fair will be banned for life. GAME FAIR TEAM.
  5. TULLYLISH DOG SHOW AND RACE DAY SUNDAY 25TH AUGUST 19 As this was the last working dog show of the year, we were up with the lark on Sunday morning, and very soon on our way to the now annual Tullylish Dog Show and Raceday. The sun was beamimg down as we made our way through the leafy countryside of County Down and to the beautiful picturesque village of Lawrencetown. This was the superb venue for the Tullylish Dog show and Race day, and what a day we had. This was one of the best venues for a show that I have been to this year, with ringside parking, well spaced out rings and a good heavy up hill race track. The weather displayed what a good summers day should be, a scorcher, and this no doubt brought the crowds out to full capacity. The children were bouncing about enjoying themselves in the mid-day sun, while the older folk were stretching themselves out on the grass taking in the rays. From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border, with families and dogs in tow. There was a Burger van with very tasty food, Hospitality Trailer for a few bevvys, and Toilet facilities on site. As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. It was nice to meet up with so many regular show goers and also some new ones, all out for a good days enjoyment before the long cold days of winter come upon us. And that they done whole heartedly. No matter how many shows I have went to over the years, and there have been many, I still meet and make new friends. What a lovely job this can be. Time moves swiftly on and very soon it was Showing and Racing Time. Here are some Showing and Racing Results. Some cracking photographs up on Facebook at the moment. It is nice to have them to look back on when the snow hits the window. And Finally Finally, I always save the best to last, and in this case I really mean the best. To the organisers John Barry and Paul Mc Alinden and your back up team, you produced a first class show with impeccable skill and organisation and pulled out all the stops to make your show a memorable day full of excitement and enjoyment for everyone. Every part of your show went like clockwork. Well done and a credit to all involved. Now Folks I must go, as I have an appointment in the next couple of weeks with Mr Foxy at his digging school to hone up some more skills in my old age. He has promised me a few good digs geared for pensioners. To we meet again God bless, and keep safe over the winter, and I look forward to meeting up with you all again in March 2020. 10. Mid and East Antrim Charity Working Dog Show and Race Day Sunday 11th August 19 at the "Field of Dreams Schooling Track" , Maghera. Set in the rolling countryside of Maghera on the edge of the beautiful North Coast of Ireland is the now famous “ Field of Dreams Schooling Track “. This was the venue for the Charity Dog Show and Race day Sunday 11th August 19. After a trouble free journey, with dogs in tow, we arrived at our destination at approximately 10.00am. The place was buzzing with activity, with a burger stand to feed us all day, and all set up and ready to go for another great sporting event. The weather was pretty good, with a few light showers in the morning, with the sun peeping out for the rest of the day. There was a very nice crowd of like minded Country Sports people there on Sunday, all out with the same goal in mind to win and bring a trophy home on the day, and generally enjoy a good relaxing country sports event. It was nice to see new faces there, along with all the regular show goers. The banter and the craic was good with nice people, all out in abundance at the ‘Field of Dreams ‘ on Sunday, The Racing began at approximately 12.00noon followed by the showing. Here are the Racing and showing Results Heres are the Racing Results Bull Cross Charlene Rafferty with Shifter Reserve Charlene Rafferty with Red Hairy Dogs Earl Gardener with Cillus Reserve Danny Maxwell with Blue U21 Lurcher Fiona Devlin with Robin Reserve Earl Gardiner with Bonny U23 Lurcher Alison Gamble with Zara Reserve Fiona Devlin with Batman O23 Kirsty Harper with Joker Reserve Michelle Rafferty with Sally Whippets Sean Burke with Lilly Reserve Susanne Addis with Poppy Showing Results Childs Handling Class Cayce Coyle with Tyson Gentlemans Handling Class Rea Wilson with Odis Ladys Handling Class Carol Ann Brown with Ice Lurcher Champion Earl Gardiner with Silus Whippet Champion Colin Tucker with Cooper Terrier Champion Aimee Higginson with Toby Overall Champion Pup Davy Best with Danny Overall Show Champion and Best in Show Aimee Higginson with Toby Congratulations to all above winners and well done. And finally, may I take this opportunity to thank everybody who come out and supported this show on Sunday. To the judges - Whippets : Michelle Rafferty/ Lurchers : Clayton Hastings/ Terriers Eamo Mc Erlain/ Childrens Ladies and Gents Handling Class : Lisa Dumigan. Judging can be a hard task master at any time, but you carried out your duties effective and efficiently on the day. Many thanks for that. Photographs were taken by several people, including myself on Sunday and are now proudly displayed on our face book pages. And Finally, Finally, if it were not for the organisers, Chontelle Mc Meekin / Mark Mc Callion and owner Joe Hurley, who worked tirelessly before and on the day to make this show a success, this day would not of been possible. Your input and experience was invaluable. You have hearts of gold and are shinning lights in the Country Sports show arena. Many thanks again for all your hard work and for a great cause. Last Sunday was a very special day for everyone at the “Field Of Dreams Schooling Track“ and especially for the Hurley Family, as this show was held in memory of their beloved son and brother Christopher who passed away a short time ago with a terminal Illness. The purpose of the show was to raise funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Charity who cared so lovingly for Christopher during his end of life days on this earth. The charity Marie Curie Nurses, which this show was run for, help people affected with a cancer diagnosis or terminal illness to achieve a good quality of life, and support them to keep their independence and dignityfor as long as possible. The Marie Curie nurses are angels here on this earth, giving emotional support to families in the community when needed, including treating or managing pain and other symptoms with medicines, therapies and other specialist approaches. Chontelle Mc Meekin has reliable informed me, that in memory of Christopher Hurley and the treatment and care he received from this brilliant charity, £900 was collected on Sunday with some more cash to come in. There will be a presentation at the Marie Curie offices in the coming weeks where the final figure will be announced. How great is this. I must say, Chontelle/Mark and Joe, when I left the “ Field of Dreams” on Sunday evening, I left a little piece of my heart there and for the charity it was held for. I love that Schooling Track, and look forward to going back to this excellent venue shortly. Margaret Mc Stay

  17. NEW RULES FOR QUALIFYING FOR THE FIVE NATIONS TERRIER, WHIPPET & LURCHER CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THE GREAT GAME FAIRS OF IRELAND 2020. In future rather than shows in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales having to apply for qualifying status in advance and those competitors wishing to qualify sometimes having to travel considerable distances to try to qualify, we have decided that anyone whose dog is awarded the Championship or Res Championship at any show in the UK or Ireland, can claim a qualification for the Five Nations. 1.They can do this by the owner of the dog emailing Tom or Albert to claim their qualification to irishcountrylifestyle@btinternet.com. 2. The owner of the dog claiming the qualification must give details of the name and date of the event, the body organising the show, the name of the dog and the owners name and contacts. 3.The claim must be made within 21 days of the event where the dog(s) won. 4. Only the Champion and Reserve Champion qualify – dogs beaten by these dogs do not ‘step up’ on the basis that the winners are already qualified. 5. The date of the implementation of these new rules is from the 30th June 2019. 6. We have had a system in place for some years whereby anyone actually present at the final can make an objection to the winner or reserve in the Five Nations or indeed any winner at the fair by making a formal objection and putting down a deposit of €50/£50. This will be returned if the objection is upheld. If the challenge fails the money will be donated to charity. This will be the ONLY system of dispute that will be considered and no debate will be entered into over the results AFTER the event. This is the system used by the other sports and there are no unseemly disputes after these other competitions. Margaret Mc Stay

  19. THE IRISH GAME FAIR AND FINE FOOD FESTIVAL AT SHANES CASTLE, SATURDAY 29THAND SUNDAY 30THJUNE 2019. The Irish Game Fair and Fine Food Festival, held in the magnificent landscapes of Shanes Castle Saturday 29thand Sunday 30thJune 2019, is Irelands largest Game Fair and Country Sports event. These two days were action packed with loads of sporting events to suit the whole family. The Castle is steeped in history and sits on the north-east shores of Lough Neagh. This was the venue for the Irish Game Fair and Fine Food Festival June 2019. It was here in the fine summer weather, thousands of visitors from north and south of the border and further afield came to view the challenges for the sporting elite, and to partake in the many areas of the Country sports events happening on the day. The Game Fair provided a vast array of sporting interests, from Clay pigeon Shooting, Falconery, Gun Dogs, Angling, Fishing for the little people, Donkey Sancutary, Ferret showing and Racing, Amusements for the children, and many more sporting attractions to numerous to mention. As usual the Canine world was well catered for, with a full programme of showing, racing, and the now famous 5 Nations Championships. . With some retail therapy in mind, we strolled around at our leisure visiting the many stands and spoke to old friends along the way. We stopped off at Anthony Butlers leather stand from Co Mayo. What a friendly man. On to the Barbour stand and an ever welcoming Steven Smyth. This man always cheers me up to no end and has some really good bargains on his stand. As our legs got weary, and our money all spent, we headed back to the Showing and Racing arena. The excitement was building up in the air as the time for the highlight of the year, the Master Mc Grath and Mick the Millar was fast approaching. Some excitement when Josh O Connors dog Bear pipped the post first, followed by Michael Mc Graths Tucker taking Reserve. It was so worth the journey to see the look of joy on these two young sporting peoples face. This was quickly followed with Mick the Millar, and Ned Kanes dog flew past the winning post, followed by Michael Mc Graths Stella. Great sporting people. After a great days excitement at the Racing on Saturday, Sunday was a new day for Ferret, Dog Showing and 5 Nations. Of course the Ferret Showing and Racing is the highlight of the show for me. I can honestly say these little animals brought out the best audience participation I have seen in a long time at Shanes Castle. Graham Fyffe, and Darren Moore, provided young and old with an excellent display of Sportsmanship, along with Alan Crosbie judging, and Stephen Mc Gonigle doing the commentary. Even inwardly I am scared stiff of these little animals, I must say I loved this part of the Game fair dearly. Here are the Overall Showing Results. With the good weather, the books have shown record crowds again this year on both days at Shanes Castle. This Game Fair was run with and under the guidance of people who are passionate about Country Sports. Albert and Irene Titterington, and their co directors bring a creative marketing flair, vast event organisation, a wealth of expierence, and a lifetime commitment to the promotion and enjoyment of all Country Sports. Of this we are truly thankful. May I take this opportunity to thank the judges on the day : Whippets : Sammy Shaw Lurchers : John Shaw Terriers : Jamesie Toal Five Nations Judges Whippets : Mickey Quinn Lurchers : Kieran Young Terriers : Terry Crossen A job well done by all judges. And Finally Finally, many thanks to Tom Barry Director of Lurcher, Terrier and Whippet, Racing and Showing , his wife Leanne Barry, Ethan, and their team of helpers, for organising and running the Racing and Showing at Shanes Castle so effective and efficiently again this year. Major investment over the last number of years by the Great Game Fairs of Ireland team has seen its Game Fairs develop to a stage where they are unchallenged in the domination of their sector within the Irish Market place where town and country to come together to celebrate and enjoy the craic, along with some of our finest Country Sports and traditions. None of this would be possible without the man of the moment Albertj Tittering his wife Irene and their Co directors. Albert you are definitely ” King of the Castle,” and you and your good wife Irene are in a league of your own. Our lifes have been enriched with the excellent work and enjoyment you give to many families across the country, through your Game Fairs, and of that we are truly thankful. 24. Armagh Sporting Dog Charity Show. ( Fiona Devlins Show ) Sunday 23rd June 19 As the ringing tones of my mobile phone rang out forcefully, signalled the start of a new day and another great sporting event on the horizon. With dogs in trailer we drove through the heart of Orchard County and down the motorway to the now famous Feaghbridge Schooling Track. Situated on the outskirts of Coalisland Co Tyrone, and lies along side the shores of Lough Neagh, Feaghbridge schooling track was the venue for Fiona Devlins Armagh Sporting Dog Charity Show and Race day Sunday 23rd June 19. We arrived at the track around 10.30am, got the dogs signed in for racing, and then parked up for another great sporting event. The ground filled up fast, with canine folk from North and South of the border, and by the start of show time the venue was full to capacity. As this show was for charity, families and trailers arrived in abundance with their Canine friends, all barking and crooning the dog chorus, and full of winning spirit. Paddy and Jade Dunphy travelled all the way from New Ross in County Wexford, as did Liam and Conor Nolan from Roscrea, Co Tipperary. Great people and great Country Sports enthusiasts. The weather was good, and although a little cloudy at times, there was no rain in sight. The children had a field day with burgers and chips on site, and loads of room for them to play safely, under the watchful eye of parents and family. It was evident from the start this show was going to run like clockwork, as Fiona is an experienced hand in that area. This young lady has run many very successful shows over the years. The organisation and timing was impeccable, resulting in the show keeping to schedule and starting on time. As the day progressed, it was raffle time and then the excitement began. There were some great prizes in the raffle, and some very happy campers going home, and all for a good cause. The Racing started at approximately 11.30 followed by the showing. Billy Harpur was there with his camera, and I also took some photographs with my mobile. These are all up on my time line at the moment. And Finally, the best is always left to last. What can I say that will gather the skills, fuelled spirit and determination together of this young woman Fiona Devlin. Along with your brilliant back up team, you have pulled together another great sporting event with super efficiency. Finally, Finally, Fiona, you are a great Country Sportswoman, with the sport very close to your heart. Again this year you run another top class show, and thank you for a most enjoyable and memorable day out at Feaghbridge. And the good news, the proceeds from this Charity show is going to “The Cancer Fund For Children” Remember all good Canine men and women its your money that will help ease the pain in some small way of some of our little people suffering from this terrible disease. Cancer has no mercy on young or old. I know, I was that soldier. Fiona you are a woman in a million with a giving heart, and well done for this very worthy cause. Many thanks for the lovely presentation you made to myself and Kirsty Harpur on the day. We truly appreciate it. I am already looking forward to your next show in 2019. Margaret Mc Stay
