  2. Alright Ladies and Gents, I've just started lamping my 12 month old Deerhound/Greyhound x Whippet/Greyhound, I've owned him since he was 6 weeks old, he is very well trained and has the obedience you would expect from owning him from 6 weeks. . But he is exhibiting some behaviour which is far from desirable ! . . He has been out half a dozen times and 4 out of 6 he has done this unthinkable act . . He runs a rabbit and if he misses it he is reluctant to come back to me . . He'll stand at the end of the beam and take no notice of me, as much as it anger me when he comes back to me I just st

  7. got a young bitch here that i took out lastnite, her first run was doubled up on a big rabbit and did really well very tight to it, was only a short course cause it was by the hedge when they got to it. second run i ran her single handed and she got straight to it but was striking and over shooting on turn and had to work hard to get back to it. did this about three times in course and game made it to cover... do you think its cause shes just green?or over keen? or could it be bad balance? never had this problem with my other bitch in her first season, i only want the bitch to run local on la

  12. Went out tonight for a shine with the whippet slipped her at a bunny chased it around the field then she went way across the twisting and turning it, the feild was id say about 20-30 maybe even forty acres as she went near to the far end of the feild the lamp (Clu-lite cb2) wasnt strong enough to pick it up then she started yapping, im thinking she was yapping because she did not fully know where the rabbit was because of the lamp not being able to shine far enough meaning she didnt know when to make her strike. This is only her id say 5 course on the lamp but by far the best and longes
  13. hi, i'm new to this forum but had a few dogs. basically i like the look of bull crosses and the attributes they bring to a dog ( gameness etc) but was wondering whats best to cross it with. I will mainly be hunting rabbits but would like it to handle bigger quarry, and something that's quick off the spot. and what percentages are best and on what side (sire dam). not too familiar with all the breeding business you see . i would rather it be real better on rabbits if that helps. thanks.

  15. Speaking of Hancocks pups. Here's mine at five months in these pics. (24" at the shoulder) He's been coming along pretty well. I've done a little gun dog type training with him. He'll enter the water and swim after a thrown dummy. He brings it back but wants to play keep away. We can cure him of that when he's a little older. He's ok with gunfire, and has had a chance to mouth some shot game. The bottom pic has him with my wirehair checking out a bear. I plan to work on retrieving through the winter. Come spring, he'll be at a year and ready for live game. Only thats when our quiet season
