  3. Shane's Castle is the family seat of the O'Neills of Clandeboye. This Demense is one of the most beautiful and well maintained landscapes in Ireland, and although the Castle has been in ruins since the fire of 1816, the remaining structure, including the unique Camellia House, is a striking feature on the landscape. It was here today in its picturesque and and majestic surroundings, that the Deputy First Minister Martin Mc Guinness launched the 50th Irish Game at Shanes Castle. The Mayor of Antrim Mr Roy Thompson was also in attendance,as was many people from all walks of life, the Canine c
  4. For any of you wondering about weather at Shanes Castle I am delighted to report that I got sun burned today as we started 'set up'. Everytime I put on my 'Wet Weather Fair 'coat it was bright sunshine and of course when I had it off and at the other end of the field it came on showers! Ground conditions are good - Shanes has its own micro climate and the field is basically sand from the lough and drains well. However we have put our wet weather plans into operation with a swift change of layout to minimise traffic on the ground. As you all know I like to keep aisles good for the publi
  5. I'm sorry folks that i've had to post this topic but over the last number of weeks a few people have been accusing me of being wetnoseman even to the point of accusing me behind my back at shows. This seems to stem from a suggestion that Billy Craig (Tulsa) was refering to me when he said he knew the identity of wetnoseman on a recent post. I have spoken with Billy about this and he assures me he doesn't believe me to be wetnoseman. Any sane person only has to look at the content and vocabulary of mine and wetnosemans posts, compare the two and draw your own conclusions. I have been attending

There will be members of the federation in attendance ,myself and Neil cooney that I know of so far so any questions you have in relation to the federation ,what we are about, our aims or if it's about starting up your own club and becoming

  13. Sunday the 24th June 2012 was the first show of the year for the North West Lurcher, Terrier and Whippet Club, held at Barron Top Fun Farm, Donemana, Strabane, Co Tyrone. Barron Top Fun Farm provides the unique combination of being interesting , educational, and very enjoyable, and a real childrens paradise. This was very evident on Sunday with the children enjoying themselves over at the animal farm, slides, and train rides, and many more attractions in a safe environment, while their parents enjoyed the dog show. The one downer on the day was the weather. It certainly did not treat us ve

  15. I am sure most of you are aware of the IWTF that has recently been formed to promote/educate the side of pest controll the media don't show, also they have set up a stolen dogs link to try and stamp out or at the least help in the return of said dogs. This being a newly formed organisation needs help and am not to proud a man to ask for help,I would never ask that the charitys or other organisations which recieve donations from the many shows across our island be affected in any way,but would ask that perhaps a bucket in the centre of the ring with an board with IWTF donations beside it ,were th

  19. As this is our 25th All Ireland Championships staged at our 50th Irish Game Fair , since we launched the Game Fair concept in Ireland in 1978, we have pulled out all of the stops to make this a memorable event. This includes bringing judges from Scotland, introducing new events including Derek Davidson's Terrier Roadshow and offering the best prize fund ever for an Irish event. I thank my fellow directors for allowing me to commit this investment into the terrier, whippet and lurcher events and I trust it will be reciprocated by good sportsmanship on the day. PLEASE NOTE: Only the Master

  21. Had a very nice relaxing day yesterday at the Sporting Whippet clubs of Northern Irelands 3rd show of the year. Although the rain was not kind to us,it still did not dampen the spirits of the whippet people who turned up to support the show. The show started with the childrens handling class. These little people never cease to amaze me.They all go into that show ring, and walk their dogs with such vigour and pride. In their liitle hearts they ask for nothing in return, only to make their parents proud of them and their little eyes light up with joy if they get a rosette or a trophy. A ver
