  1. **sorry for the double post** I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.) Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think? She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

  3. I’m looking for some advice as we recently rescued a whippet lurcher mix. She’s extremely friendly and sociable with dogs and people but is constantly biting and grabbing our older dogs legs, ears and neck. He’s s cavachon and doesn’t really care for playing or interacting with other dogs so he rarely snaps or growls at her when she starts. He’ll just stand there looking at us or try to run away. She’s never been aggressive towards him and regularly try’s to protect him if other dogs get rough with him. However she’s constantly biting at him when he starts barking or when’s she too excited. We

  5. Hello to all. I would like some help with our lurchers coat. Luna is 3 this year, her Mum was a Border Collie x Whippet (merle) her Dad a Whippet x Greyhound (Non-Merle). I think she has the harlequin merle modifier gene, I don't think she is double merle, her Dad was not cryptic as far as we can tell. She has no helth issues eyesight excellent and her hearing is as selective as any lurcher. She is a stunning wee dog, very unique markings, great temperament. Any help appreciated.
  6. Help I’m looking for a pup to meet my needs. I will be hunting rabbit, fox, and deer. I will be hunting pastures and easements. I need something with EXTREME speed for hunting cow-fields and horse-fields in Pennsylvania. If the deer make it to the woods, they are gone. We don’t have miles of giant fields like the Staghound guys do out west for running coyote. Does anyone produce Whippet x Staghound crosses? Can anyone show any video of Dave Platts “English Deerhounds” actually working? Would a purebred Greyhound be too fragile for field work?
  7. Hi guys So I've got a lurcher, loki (lives up to his name) lovely boy gentle nature. Softie and is so gentle with other animals great with rats kittens the lot I just cannot fault him. Loki is 3 years old this April 6th. So when I got loki he was a pup, 8 weeks. He was socialised with young and adult dogs from a young age and gradually left for short to longer periods of times with toys and other entertainment ext. All done properly. Also when left as a young pup he was at work with me in a crated area in plain site of other dogs too so he wasn't on his own as such. He w
  8. Hi All, My Whippet x Greyhound is about 18months old now. She is a great family pet and a natural at catching rabbits and even one muntjac (along with my border terrier). If I had more knowledge id love to use her for rabbits & lamping. The only downside to her is that she is very fussy about what she eats... I've tried meat, rice veg and meat/fish, biscuits, chicken skins and she still won't put any weight on. She rarely finishes a meal, and doesn't often eat in the mornings. I don't leave food down all day either. I'm a not concerned that she is unhealthy and it doesn't
  9. Hello all, bit of a strange one this BUT, my 8 year old lad wants to get into the game but obviously with him only being 8 if rather him go out with me, however, hes now decided he wants his own dog instead of just going with me. Mythering me for the last few months now and I've decided to post on here, andlooking at purchasing a small dog for him, preferably whippet, or atleastbsomething that isnt going to pull him over a field. BUT won't be spending a lot of money as it's nearly xmas and already spent too much and as this will be part xmas for him it needs to be fairly cheap,(cheeky), going
