  1. No rest for me as my workload has gone through the roof, laying traps this afternoon in the sunshine. I spied the surface run coming out from the hedge, cut the top away, clean it out and lay the trap.. not enough loose earth to cover the trap so I walk 10 steps further up, grap a scoop full of soil turn around to see that my trap has gone off, fck it, too much fine tuning I thought, I lift it and Moley mole is in there :boogie:
  2. Just wondered how many moles people have been finding compared to last year. Now iv had not a bad start to my trapping season, catching average or above average on all my farms. On one farm I had 50 when the average over the last 5 years has been 32 so when that farmer said he had heard that the cold winter had killed alot of moles I laughed and said not that Id seen. But... when visiting a hill farm owned by that same farmer I looked from a distance and thought it was the same sort of numbers as last year but on looking closer I found all the workings to be old and not alot of fresh work. You
  3. could someone please tell me which is the best mole trap to use cheers.
  4. I would like to say a big thank you to the THL member that sent me this, I've had it a couple of years now, watched it and Woodga's Rabbit snaring dvd as well when I first had them.. Inspired me to take up catching the lil black beauties !! Been at it a while now, and got a lot of work in last year. This year, I can (maybe can't) keep up with all the work I got on at the moment... and I have got lots of it... Anyway, while going through my stuff a few weeks ago I found the DVD's again, so I watched them both again... I picked up on bits that I have been doing wrong, or not quite right, rep
  5. I caught 48 moles on my parents small holding last year so there are plenty of old runs. It is a cider orchard and two adjacent fields which have sheep on them, but not currently. I get moles visiting now and again following the clearance of them last year, it was badly infested. The moles are after the manure fed worms under the grass. This particular one has been tricky. Tumps in three places in the one field so I set Talpex around all of them. The mole made tumps in front of two of the Talpex but not triggering them, so I changed to duffus for these two. One duffus was trigg
  6. Thought i'd give my Duffus and Talpex traps an outing in the deer paddock last night. Had one in each type but the one in the Duffus was caught quite far back on its body so i need to adjust the sensitivity.
  7. Hi chaps, for the last couple of weeks I have been searching through old posts from people who charge for traditional mole catching.. For the last few years I have stayed at home to care for my autistic daughter, and in my spare time I have been trapping moles on friends farm and pigeon shooting.. Now my daughter has settled into special school I would like to bring in some income from mole catching..At the moment I'm struggling to put a price plan together for i.e golf clubs, farms, large country estates. I would like to go down the road of having a set price plan so people know the price I c
  8. I lifted a trap today, as both sides had gone off.. no mole or dirt in trap... then I looked in tube and there was a dead mole in it.. I could see any injuries what so ever, explain please!!!
  9. On the odd occasion, i've had the misfortune of discovering a mole caught by it's forelimb, in my duffus traps.Anyone else experienced this ?
  10. just been looking on ebay for mole traps has anyone bought the talpex type traps sold by primrose are they any good
  11. This hill was bigger but for two days of heavy rain. I tought a black & white had been digging when first entering field. Soil is very peaty so easy to shift but did pass my mind what the hell was going to end up in the trap.
  12. What do you carry your mole traps in, old game bag, a bucket or do you have a fancy mole catchers bag?
  13. When catching on farms I have large numbers of traps down and record the rough positions of them all in a notebook sketch. However it gets pretty messy when you've got wet mucky hands and I'm sure there must be a more efficient way. Does anyone else have a different method of keeping tabs on their traps they'd like to share?
  14. I've heard that flatpack's barrel traps don't require any adjusting. Can anyone confirm this ? thanks.
  15. hi guys what do you guys do with the moles once you have caught them in traps?
  16. first things first, I laid some traps yesterday, the farmer's workhand, decided that he'd go and slurry the field that I had laid the traps in, right over me traps... only three in as I had cleared the field the day before.. anyway as I'm cursing him and walking down the field to where the hills and hopefully my markers are... I spot one marker still up, empty trap.. next marker is flat to the boards, empty trap... I'm stood there looking cant see the other one, then in the tyre rut I can see the arc of the spring on me trap... I lifted it, trap set off with one mole in it, the mole and the mu
  17. I`m a keen Airgunner, and have over 30 years experience of vermin control, frankly I could be doing with more ground. I have noticed that there`s now more mole hills than ever before in my area. I`m thinking of approaching farmers ,offering to remove the moles from their land if they allow me to shoot the rabbits as well? What I need is is a supply of mole traps, Help! You think this might work?
  18. I fancy trying some trapline traps to complement my half barrels but don't want the hassle of importing them from America. I know Killgerm sell them but they seem quite expensive, does anyone know of anywhere else in the UK I can get my hands on a few to try for a reasonable price ?
