Saturday 23rd March 2013 Roscrea Working Dog Social Club Will be running their annual Lurcher Racing Day on the 23th March, and this promises to be a cracking days racing. All dogs must be entered before19th of March, and this rule must be strictly adhered to. All dogs must be muzzled. Under 23inches winner will get a big plaque, money, plus a lovely winners sheet. Hunting & Wildfowling Exhibition Friday 8th February 6.00 - 9.00 Satirday 1.00 - 8.00 including guest speakers on their 'fowling and punt gunning experiences on the Dowmpatrick Marshes and Strangford Lough. -

Dessie Mackins Show and Race Day Saturday 23rd February 2013 Dessie Mackin will be running a Show and Race day Saturday 23rd February 2013 ( Last Saturday in February ) at the usual venue on the Gilford Banbridge Road. All the usual classes for Lurchers, Terriers, Whippets, and Strong Dogs. This show will be run under NILRC rules, and will be a qualifer for the 5 Nations at Birr Castle 2013, and a qualifier for the Master Mc Grath at Shanes Castle 2013. ( F

The annual Florence court sporting dog show and racing will be held on saturday 25th May 2013 under Northern Ireland Lurcher Racing Club (nilrc) rules. Rules can be viewed on the nilrc facebook page. Due to Seamus retiring I have very kindly been asked to take over the running of the show for the National Trust. This show will be the first qualifer for "Mick the Miller Elite Golden Coat Challenge", the final of which will be held in Florence court 2014. Further details will be posted. Show organisers throughout the UK & Ireland can apply to host qualifying events at two of Ireland's largest lucher, terrier & whippet weekends. Firstly for the Master Mc Grath Challenge - to find the fastest lurcher in the UK & Ireland - final to take place at the Irish Game Fair & Flavour Fine Food Festival , Shanes Castle , Antrim on the 29th & 30th June. This fair also hosts the 26th All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Championships so a really big weekend for working dog owners. Im thinking of running a show next year and want your opinions on which one or two are the leaders so i know what level ive to try and reach,ive spoken to a few organizers and they were pretty helpful,im talking about lurcher and terrier shows and not gamefairs as they cant be counted fairly i think,looking forward to see what yous think.

I have been asked with regards to qualifiers for the Master McGrath Challenge Race at Shanes Castle on the 29th June 2013 and the Five Nations Championships for BOTH Terriers and Lurchers in 2013 at Birr Castle on the 1st September as part of our 'The Gathering' event whether if your dog is runner up to a pre qualified dog can it take its place in the final. we have thought long and hard about this and decided the following : 1. The two Champions from 2012 ( ie Pat Lee and Fiona) are qualified as Champions to defend their titles in 2013. We have also ruled that Paul Reid's dog which was c

Not one for showing my dogs as I like to give them and me a rest in the off season ( more me if I'm being honest ). I like to go to shows and have a look at what other people are running. I was just wondering what are the common classes for lurchers/terriers at shows? Is there any people think could be added or even any common ones that people feel are a waste of time?

Situated on the main Banbridge to Portadown Road in Northern Ireland, Halls Mill Inn was the venue yesterday Saturday 22nd December 2012 for Dessie Mackens Christmas Show. And what a day of Christmas cheer that was. As we were leaving the house to go to the show, the heavens opened and the rain lashed down, but as we got to the show venue, the rain suddenly stopped and did not start again to we were on our way home . There was a big turnout yesterday at the Christmas show. From ten o clock onwards cars and trailers began to converge on the car park of Halls Mills, loaded up with dogs
