  1. Excellent...That sounds like an excellent experience. I've always found them quite fascinating...A pet crow...might be worth a go! It could keep the sodding Seagulls off of my roof!
  2. First trip out this year (been too busy) - a few hours at Selsey beach (near the lifeboat station) produced a nice Bream and bizarrely, a Turbot...weird but both are now in the freezer.
  3. You've got to admit though, they are pretty clever
  4. Have a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVaITA7eBZE
  5. I've not shot game with my catapult; mostly plinking and target shooting. The nearest for me is foul hooking a fish (sea fishing), especially if the hook is swallowed down deep and cant't be removed. Am never happy about that.
  6. I think this thread explains quite nicely why the UK is f*cked up...Thank you politically correct brigade!
  7. Nice stuff...am not brave enough to risk my knuckles though!
  8. I've just purchased one of these and they look well made. Haven't tried it yet though..
  9. If you decide on the Diablo, buy the basic one...The stabalisers on the more expensive version are a gimmick. I aim straight along the top fork which is perfect for around 1o metres (or about 11 yards for us oldies!)...
  10. I've tried a range of bands and tubes and shoot a Barnett Diablo and a Jack Pyke slingshot converted into a 'starship' design (posted one here). My conclusion: Roylan Blue (dub dub) tubes with a heavy leather pouch. I can shoot accurately with this set up and using hex nuts it packs quite a punch. You have to cut the length just right otherwise the draw can be a bit strenuous...but these bands are softer than the normal Barnett ones.. Happy shooting!
  11. What an excellent quality bit of kit,,,
  12. Hi Greyman, Yep I've looked at Blue as you've mentioned him before; an excellent shooter! I've experimented with tbg...but didn't like the noise - + liked the convenience/ ease (of fitting) of tubes...not used lead yet..but am using hex nuts which I am considering filling with lead. I do really like blue dud dub but it is a heavy draw...and a strain on the joints! I have had a go at putting a short length (3") of blue over the top of the green (fork side) to create a taper and add a bit of oomph. Worked quite well. A 7' draw with 30mm tbg and 12 mm lead must pack a fair punch...am wondering w
  13. Hi, I bought a Jack Pyke catapult with the idea of converting it to a simple starship design. A few nuts and bolts and some mild steel bar from B&Q...and hey presto. The front end was extended for extra draw length whilst the rear wrist brace was extended to rest just below the elbow. The whole thing is 18" length in total. It shoots really well. Am still tinkering with band sets - being torn between the ease/ speed of greed dub dub vs the power and accuracy but heavy draw of blue.
  14. I've used green and red Theraband tubes, they're ok, but nowhere near as good as Rolyan green/ orange. I've also use Rolyan blue which I really rate - however I found them quite a heavy draw. which became a bit tedious; so green it is!
