This was serviced at the factory in August 2017 at a cost of £246 (I have the receipt) which included a new battery.

Some more pictures showing receipt for service, a print off from Daystate's website showing manufacture date etc and cards with different pellets tested at 30 metres (the measurements are from outsde to outside rather than centre to centre so for a true reading knock off 4.5mm from each set of groups).

  2. I am going to add my twopence to this.

I was searching for a scope and found one on their site that was quite competively priced at £150 so I called them to ask if they could do any discount or throw in some mounts or even let me have free postage. I was told by the assistant that he wasn't able to do anything without speaking to the manager and the manager would call me back later.

One hour later I got the phone call from Chris who asked me to confirm what model I was interested in and when I told him I was informed that the website hadn't been updated for a while and I could have the scope with matching mounts for £99 posted. I asked him to just check it was the correct model which he confirmed. I ordered it and it arrived 3 days later.

I would have been very happy if I could have had the scope and mounts for £150 posted and Chris knew that so he didn't have to tell me he could do it for under £100 so all I can say is; Thank you Morgans, an excellent deal and I'll be shopping with you again.

  3. I am thinking of selling my Air Arms bora , (its fitted with a gas ram ), and getting a HW100 instead , which model I don't know ???

The only reason for a change is I have the chance of a fair amount of rat shooting and figure a magazine will enable quicker / more shots to be taken , plus the Bora although a great gun is a little on the heavy side .

Any feed back would be much appreciated, thanks.

    Hello,

Are you going to be buying new or used? If new and you are anywhere near Manchester at any time soon Branthwaite's are selling them for £725. I've just bought one to replace my 10 year old one (I haven't had a new gun since Christmas1978 and I decided at that price it was time to treat myself) and found them a pleasure to deal with. I have opted for the full length model in .177 with a thumbhole stock (I'm a lefty so can't use the Sporter stock as they're only available in right handed mode and the pistol grip is dedicated for right handed people so it's more than just the cheek piece for me to consider).

My old T/H full length .177 (non quickfill) will be up for sale soon which has an adjustable cheek piece if you're considering going down the used route.

If you're interested send me a pm and I will send you some pictures and more details.

    Regards,

    Gary.

  4. Can anyone tell me where to buy "Pure Silicone Grease" from at a reasonable price please? I can find it in 100gm pots for about £6 but iI'm thinkingthat if I buy larger amounts the price will come down. The only thing I have seen in 500gms is "silicone grease" without the word pure on the label. Would this be suitable for O rings on a pcp?

    Thanks,

    Gary.

  5. I'm new on here so I hope I'm not ruffling any feathers with my thoughts.

The trigger is in my opinion a lot better on the HW100 (you can buy spring washer for pennies to improve the AA trigger) and it does feel like it has been well engineered. The loading system is better on the Weirhauch with it having a metal magazine and a system to stop you double loading it.

Having said that, my daughter's S510 shoots just as accurately as my HW100 and even though it's not regulated the power curve is very small.

The 510 has shrouded barrel which also acts as a silencer, keeping the length down and there is a thread to add a silencer on the end of the barrel to really hush it up. The 510 is also very easy to service yourself (the majority of spares are cheaper too). Both have dedicated forums where advice is readily available. I also think the AA looks nicer but that's just a cosmetic thing and down to personal taste.

I think the price difference is about right between the 2 rifles and find both guns to be excellent, with each having their own advantages.

  6. Hello,

I've been shooting air rifles only, on and off since the seventies. I no longer hunt but enjoy plinking down at the club's range and am going to have a bash at hft next year.

I like to learn how the mechanics of air rifles work so I'm a bit too keen on pulling them apart ( I usually can get them back together).

I have a HW100 and my daughter has an AA S510 both in .177.

I look forward to sharing my little bit of experience with you and hope that when I come unstuck with a load of bits on the table that i can't fathom where they all go, someone can help me out too.

    Regards,

    Gary.
