  1. Hi Pianoman, Thanks for the advice. I see you own a TX200HC as well as the Weihrauchs. Which in your opinion shoots best straight out he box? I've read on some sites that people feel the Air Arms rifle is better from the box, but after some tinkering and tuning the HW97K is a better rifle? Would you say the 77 is better than the 97K for small game? Whichever I get will be in.22. As suggested by someone on here though I may just end up getting two rifles anyway. Who do you think makes the best carbine air arms or weihrauch? Thanks for your input Alistair Hi Alistair. The TX200HC I ha
  2. How does a Weihrauch HW77k carbine in.177 with a Hawke Eclipse 3-12x50 AO IR Mil-Dot scope sound for a first rifle? Obviously I will take your advice and go and shoulder a few before I buy, but like the look of this at least. Opinions?
  3. Taking your advice on board fellas I think I might look more at .177 now. In these early days it sounds like an easier option for getting the pellet home in the right areas. The last thing I want is a hedgerow full of injured rabbits and pigeons. Plus it gives me a good excuse to buy another rifle in.22. Top advice fellas. Thank you.
  4. So is it fair to summarise that a pellet in the head means dead vermin whether it's .177 or.22. Just that it's easier to put the .177 where you want it? I'd made the assumption that .22 was the better for hunting and .177 was better for target, but from reading comments from you guys and other forums it seems .177 is becoming the choice for many of you for both. Got to admit this has become an obsession and I haven't even bought my rifle yet! God knows what I'm gonna be like when I have it (or them). Looks like the wife will get to watch what she wants on the telly more often! :-)
  5. Massive thanks to everyone so far! Even the debate over cultural differences ion humour! :-) Looking at all these rifles is like being a kid in a sweet shop. I guess what it comes down to is what works for an individual as they all seem fairly similar when it comes to stats and build quality. It's really good to hear your thoughts though on the benefits of each. Big help for me as a newcomer and I'm just looking forward to going shooting very soon. Thanks again guys and enjoy your shooting. Alistair

  7. Thanks again fellas. Barrywhite you are a bad man for putting that idea into my head! Ha ha. I'm sure the wife will come round to my way of thinking that you really need both guns. Ha ha.
  8. Thanks Chris. Started favouring the HW, but had opinions from many that the TX is better out the box. I will go and shoulder them to see for sure. Cheers again bud. Happy shooting Ali
  9. Thanks guys and richie1984 that is exactly what I intend to do. :-)
  10. Hi guys. I'm not the first and I'm sure I won't be the last, but I'm not too far off buying a nice new .22 springer. Only problem is I am spending far too much time going round and round over which rifle to get. Ive narrowed down to HW97KT, Tx200, TX200HC and the Walther LGU. I will be looking eventually to go out shooting rabbit and pigeon. Help me out guys. If you had to choose from one of those guns, which would you get. Which rifle performs best straight out the box ? Thanks for your help guys. Look forward to your responses. Need to choose soon or I might go mad! Th
  11. Hi guys. New to this game and unashamed to say it is becoming an obsession already! After putting a few months in on a range I'll be out looking for bunnie and pigeon. Will be looking for plenty of advise along the way. Thanks Ali
