  1. the red bitch is a three quarter bred from boozers fred the other bitch is off the same mother to another first cross. red bitch 9 month just started killing the week before .
  2. don't know him mate but the runner could pass for one of mine, I bred some brindle first crosses lol
  3. no mate I am not tall a tall lol but I did breed a few brindle sal crosses .
  4. I never red that properly first time sandy, and I haven't looked at these other clips yet mate but I will later the slips the galgos was getting were not big in my book, at one time I was known for my sportsmanship and gave some massive slips, but the hare don't kick till the dog gets there any way. one day a chap slipped on my little red bitch from the other end of the line he thought the dog was the hare when they got on terms, his rocket dog just got in the way till it faded, like grey hounds those galgos are just fast. no offence intended just how I see it.
  5. never no mate that could be off one of my sal crosses I was in notts till 95 and bred a few that stayed local
  6. that's interesting mush you can follow that back plenty far enough I will get flashes name and a good chance I can find him cheers.
  7. could be you never know I will try and find out
  8. you should try living with half a dozen cockers mate, do that do anything, seriously though I must be wired up the right way cos I never have a problem with em.
  9. will do mate worker to worker winner every time no matter what your after.
  10. he was bred in cornwall of all places and bought while on holiday mick had to travel back to get him when he was ready to go I not sure how he was bred but mick is my wifes uncle and can give me his ped name hopefully I can bring his lines forward from that if the modern stuff can be followed back, that far
  11. that's mick lowdes flash he had a massive impact round our way in the creation of hare catchers late 60s early70s
  12. when saluki blood was first available to lurcher lads the first thing they did was not line a grey hound, they already had lurchers and crossed them to the saluki, and don't forget no brian plummer slagging them off back then, may be we got lucky who knows, but I am not saying use saluki instead of grey hound I am saying use coursing dog, different animal altogether, just think what a greyhound can do and what a coursing dog can do and its a simple choice.
  13. the English saluki lurcher that's been line bred best to best for 50 years to catch the brown hare is a far superior animal to the grey hound for any type of lurcher and people are to obsessed with raw pace
  14. by the time they come shooting they should be steady to hares etc, but allot are not and they spend all season thrashing it for chasing, then take him on a hare shoot, lol, getting parts and upgrades for the moggy is easier than for some modern carsmy one is a 1956 split screen I have added winkers seatbelts and an alternator every thing else as it should be.
  15. would not cross pure to a collie, use a coursing bred dog, any way collie jon uses nearly pure collies and says their ok.
  16. seen two from the same litter in the 1970s, both decent dogs, as far as catching stuff went, one was racy and the other cloddy, the cloddy one used to kill hares, he ran like a fen dog, every race lasted five mins and he kill it in the dyke, and he yapped the whole time lol
  17. when I put a greyhound to a first cross they were no good, I put the same bitch to boozers pure fred and they were spot on, people will say I used wrong type greyhound but there all crap end of story, f1 only after that another coursing dog or saluki the only way to improve on the original.
  18. thank you that's her now, the depth of breeding in our modern coursing dogs today is fantastic, and the physical quality of the faster lines is such, that I believe there a better dog to cross with a base breed to produce a lurcher than ever a greyhound was. just mhop.
  19. I knew you had one what is she like realy single handed with fair law for several runs, and when you consider what we have here in 50 years not thousands I don't think we done bad mate do you. it all about what suits your needs at the end of the day.atb
  20. totally agree about the kick up thing a whippet can catch kick ups all day long, but wheather there used badley or not our coursing dogs are the best in the world for me.
  21. dons original lady had some spaniel in I believe,if any one wants a lineing this is a proper dog but bad picture lol
  22. in the 80s we used to go lamping and put the dogs in the boot ,we had cortinas then my mate had a real good lamping dog called gyp, any way kev lifted the bonnet one day to check the oil and old gyp jumped in the engine lol.
