  1. what is your chosen branch of lurcher work then shadow if you don't mind me asking.
  2. I once sold a traveling lad a pup for 150 quid and he sold it at 14 month for 7500 pounds I was well pleased for him and me. that others thought it worth that.
  3. I dont care for people getting a living from selling dogs but folk knew what they were, and I don't think they were ever dear, what you get in coursing game, was mr rich man paying big money for a good dog some lad on minimum wage with three kids and rent to pay, had brought on and could not afford to turn it down,
  4. well we all cant be special, so some have to make stuff up to try and get a bit of attention, posting about things we never did, and know nothing about, in the 5 mins we been doing it.
  5. no p***y poacher did, there is a thread about it.
  6. well said, he did, and we all to blame, stockmanship is lost on some people.
  7. what I may do is nothing to do with line breeding, I just want to end my fantastic journey where it began over 50 years ago, I saw the best years, gone now for ever sadly, if you lads live to be a 100 you wont do what we did.
  8. no that's not adding to a line that's messing it up, it wont be a line then they be bitsas, you be going backwards, not saying they would be bad dogs, but not line bred. you can breed good mongrels but the chance of it producing another?
  9. yes if needs be, but working a gang properly in the beating line takes a lot of concentration, I rather pick up these days, but I don't prat about round the guns I walk miles for the pricked ones and stuff others cant find.
  10. there is nothing stopping any one joining into an existing line and contributing to it, but most would rather be negative sadly.
  11. my cockers are out 3\4 days a week and never stop, they are not posers they workers, and get tested hard all season.
  12. fare comment but if someone don't have a go there would be nothing for those who don't breed to run, to many experts that do f kall to improve or add to a line about if you ask me, and its better to create a line, than blunder about, the best livestock of any kind is line bred.
  13. same here mate, are you sure it was just lack of sleep mate lol
  14. I have said that for years most never see the real deal.
  15. with what I have kept, you can go like to like for 3 or 4 gens then back to saluki then carry on like to like the fact that the out cross pups are like three quarter saluki don't make any difference imho. when I had first crosses I went greyhound to make three quarter that was a mistake, the same bitch to saluki threw top class, I also went first x first x they were ok to, with regards lurchers if they bred for a gen or two and are what is required go to something alike, the probs start from to many ingredients in the mix to start with imho. so beddy grey x beddy grey should be fine, just out
  16. just went back to look for bullace and found a few so got them and some sloes the hedges be cut any time, I forgot the camera but there was a lot of bees going under an old ash tree.
  17. that sounds a good saying mate, but wont work in practise to much hound after a couple of goes lol
  18. yes but wild l used to get some bullace as well but the farmer died and his hedges are cut tight back now the damsons are in a safe place though.
  19. that's fair enough better a good pet home than some idiot writing it off as a failure by nine month and getting rid.
  20. no not rely lol, I don't usualy brag about dogs but I bred ben f1 sal grey, I only run small edible stuff as a rule, but I used to go with a lad at night who would do any thing and in some rum places, and ben did every thing he was asked with no reverse, from the sharp end to large ish stuff.
  21. she looks like a first cross saluki grey mate, might run like one, you be made up then sandy lol
