  1. Welcome to the forum pal,

Maybe start by introducing yourself, maybe a birth name? What sports you're into, exactly? Any ambitions? What you would like to gain from being a member here?

I look forward to reading more about you and hope you settle in just fine ;)

  2. For pouring petrol on a dog and setting it alight for " the craic" , a familys pet collie dog,,, sickening cnuts. The dog survived for two weeks with horrendous burns, You would question the vets decision to allow that dog to slowly die in agony.

I see your point but I wouldn't be questioning he vets antics as it wouldn't be his/her duty to tend to it if this knob head didn't make this poor dog suffer.

I think we need to cull the world of these numskulls. Something really wrong with these people and no excuse to keep them alive

  3. A very good idea for people without permissions on here, but who own a shotgun, is to join a wildfowling club, its cheap and you will get some great sport, and get to know other shooters, this is a step in the right direction, instead of coming on asking for permission.

Thanks Charlie, I have considered it as an acquaintance of mine is in to his rifles and shotguns, seems to be out most days or hell of a lot more than people I know, with their air rifles (he's also the one who alerted me about the local syndicate) but whilst I'm back and forth between county's and no permanent address, how I'd stand for getting a shotgun license and finding an address to fix a gun cabinet to, etc.

A lot to look into but it's something I have considered

Good luck with your request. I put a post on here asking the same and got a load of abusive 'go knocking on doors messages' I shoot at NWSS with a BSA R10 MK2 .22. Im knocking on doors here mate and if I get a permission I'll let you know.

If you have a look through this section you will find 90% plus is people asking for permission, and each and every one who posts is told somewhere along the line that this is a hunting site so no-one is going to offer it, yet still they ask. Put yourself in the position of someone who has land to shoot on, would you tell a person who has posted just a couple of times on here that they were welcome on your land? If you would you wont keep it long that I promise you.

Why not try to participate in the forums and get to know people, I've made one or two good friends over the years on here who I go out with because I've got to know them and them me and there is an element of trust between us.

Don't take this the wrong way mate but I really think you will struggle to get permission off this site as we are all in the same boat all hunters who respect our hard earned permission and I'd say 99% wouldn't take just anyone on them obviously you have been a member for a while with decent post count and to be honest if you were closer I'd be tempted to take you on a couple of my perms but not everyone thinks like that I wish you all the luck getting a permission but got a feeling you will need to take matters into your own hands and knock on every door you can belive me in the end it will pay off and you will get somewhere to look after.

Ive spent probably the last 10+ years gaining permission from various places one farm knocked me back several times so I thought im not giving in I got all the land surrounding his farm and he saw me shooting it morning noon and night even doing a lap a day in my jeep to keep a eye on goings on and sure enough one day invited me on his land ! Just need to show willing and don't give in nice one getting Insurance really helps having all the relevant paperwork when trying and come across to them in a way that your doing them a favour free of charge as this helped me . Once you get one more will follow . Wish you all the luck mate keep us updated and will keep fingers crossed

    Hi guys,

After messaging Kenyon back, he's actually an old friend on here who actually spends more time messaging people as to commenting on the forum.... Although, I do agree he should join in on the forum, no harm in it and lots of stuff to contribute to :)

I feel his pain though, as moving back to the Wirral. I found out most land to shoot on are shared out like a syndicate by a certain group. Nothing against this as it does share land out between reputable hunters but for the small man looking to start off or having the experience but needing the land to move onto, it's hard gaining land or trying to get into this syndicate.

Both in talks and hoping to work something out, so maybe that's two members off this list shortly :D

    Anyone camp out there before?

Camping wouldn't be hectic for nightlife, security won't let you in if your late, we stayed here

You can party on and taxi is around a tenner to Telford, right spot in there.....

No edrd stall, but Johny Bluck had a stall....great show for hunting gear, haggle on the price.....

Ironbridge is quite a taxi journey from Cosford direction but taxis in Telford are probably cheapest around tbf.

I'm heading down on Friday night, Telford town centre with IMAX, pizza express and a few night caps in the premier inn. Saturday at the show (first time) and Sunday recovering :D:thumbs:

Hope to see a few of you there

I know yours has seem a little TLC from a skilled gunsmith (we can call him that, right?) but I'm looking forward to getting my TX200 HC!

Those groupings were nice and tight, I can't wait to hear how you get on with it on your permission.

    Hello mate,

You definitely won't be dissapointed with the TX200 HC, it looks great and shoots better!

Matty did a lovely job on it and I have no doubts its made a great rifle just that little bit better, especially in the smoothness and sound department!

Still not had the chance to take it to my permission yet, but It will be coming with me to the meet this weekend so hopefully it will do me proud (I know the gun wont let me down, more worried about my shooting) ;)

Once you done one it's not too bad if you need to I can always do it for you charge 30 pounds for full strip and polish de grease and use all my own lubes set power to where you want it and polish the trigger and set that :)

Or that price includes fitting any v mach ww or any other kit you supply basically covers costs and couple of beers for my effort but does make a nice difference to your rifle

Thanks Darly, I won't lie, I'm really looking forward to owning one and having a nice rifle for once :D my old local used to have a few AA's on the wall, PCP's but I always drooled looking at the stocks and the TX'HC just ticked all my boxes in what I'd like for a rifle.

Well, a shame they don't make break barrels but I'll let them off with that for now ;)

Do you mind me asking but what calibre are you using and pellets too?

Matt, I know you're buttering me up, so, I may have to pop up and see you with my BSA's ;)

I still wish to keep them along with my new rifles but I know for certain my .25 could do with seeing to and may as well see what we can do with the .22 too? I'll discuss details over a PM with you shortly.

My old permission was on private land, even with signs displaying this, there was still joggers and dog walkers trespassing the woods and fields I'd hunt on.... So seeing me there in my camo and with my rifle on my shoulder always put the shit up them.

I called the police now and then but nothing ever happened so I ended up leaving it.

Bottom line, some people are lucky with the location of their perms but it's always good to inform them then have a squad turn up and rifles aimed on you and to ruin a night hunting.

you need to be 'important' t get any police about.......

Possibly true but "being safe, than sorry" is always a good motto to live by, especially in our sports.

I personally try and cover it from all angles that whenever I'm out that nothing spoils a good morning/night out. The police being the last people I expect to see :)

  8. Hahaha well at least you know what you're doing and can help your friends out :D

I do love my springers, yet to open one up to appreciate how they work or know how to repair one but from rifles like Weihrauch and Air Arms are no doubt made with such precision and quality, I don't think I'll need to

Nothing against my BSA's but I can't wait to move up again.

  10. Meat by itself is always one of them, depends on how you cook it. However, if you marinade it or cook it with sauces, it helps it to be more palatable for the first time.

Never had squirrel I've caught myself but it's not too far from chicken in texture and a game taste, from what I can remember.
