  1. joe mate, work has been flat out not had a chance to get out or get anything sorted as yet, plenty of time though, i need a scatter and press though...
  2. hey all, just found this... http://www.rivercottage.net/forum/ask/wild-food-and-the-marine-larder/28791eating-wild-river-fish-now-largely-criminalised/
  3. just put .22 LR and sound moderator, job done, as above a moderator fitted to a .22 is for that, you can even use it on another rifle technically..
  4. crow is very nice, tastes just like pigeon to me, same problem as pigeon though not much meat on them apart from the breast
  5. my best shot was with my silver pigeon 4, number 5 shot (my normal), on my old permission by a race course used about 3-4 times a year with corn and rape fields in the middle, i was decoying with very little happening, a pigeon going like stink from left to right about 85 yards out, a quick snap shot, it must have bounced a bout 6-7 foot of the floor when it hit, stone dead straight away, wings folded back... i will never forget that shot for the rest of my days, im not so good now though as i have had no pigeon permissions for some time, tiz a great shame, many a good bag from decoying th
  6. taking or moving fresh water fish is illegal, apart from game fish which must be in season and you must have permission from the land owner and any relevant permits of course..... allot of European folk do it as it is allowed in other countries, some uk areas have been decimated, along with geese and swans to name but a few....:(:(
  7. as above, know your beans when it comes to safety back stops and the carry / power of your weapons.... dont be scared to ask questions here either, or friends with a license as it can all become a little over whelming, rifle ammunition etc etc and dont forget there is no such thing as a bone question....... regards. chris.
  8. they are just old and should be fine, its microscopic corrosion the the metal, but at this scale with this metal it will be fine, its the cases you need to worry about, if they are corroded be very careful as you can have a breach explosion... best of luck with it. regards. chris.
  9. you can mount it where you like as long as it is secure to a brick or concrete wall/floor, dont secure it to wood or plaster board as it can be ripped out easy enough.... my one is about 2 foot of the floor and ammo safe half way up next to it, just how it worked out at the time... its also hidden inside a broom cupboard... regards. chris.
  10. thanks gents, will give him till next week then try again..... i should probably take the shotey this time...
  11. he came home today, he was rushed in with meningitis early hours Thursday morning, but we caught it very quickly thank god and he will be fine soon enough... as for Charlie, hmmmmm, next time he's a hamburger... regards. chris.
  12. I went out Last night for some fresh air as my little boy was in hospital and i needed to clear my head, i took the .243 with me just in case any deer where about, and to see if my new fox call worked. I have never been fox shooting apart from with shotgun or used a call until last night, i got a fox call from http://www.foxcalluk.co.uk/ which allows you to use it in your mouth with your hands free and also change the pitch of the call by biting down and by blowing harder or softer... i had no expectations as it was my first time and i was not in the right frame of mind really.
  13. Craig whats the noise like with the .17 HMR,is it anything like the .22 rimey or is it louder???? id love to invest when i get some money spare, but my permission is shot allot and the bunnies are wary, so long shots are needed but supersonic noise spooks them too.. very nice weapon, i have the .22 CZ 452 silhouette, the short 16 inch barrel, wish i had got the longer one though as i dont think the short barrel is as accurate, i sacrificed practicality for accuracy, wish i had not, my normal range is 65 yards +. still love the rifle though... regards. chris.
  14. stick with subs mate, when i started i was the same as you, but now having shot many things they are great out to 100 yards, as long as you can hit the target in the right place. they will kill any thing you may need to at that distance with a well placed shot.... rabbits have no chance, fox the same, its all about practise and confidence in your set up.... best of luck with it,by the way my cz 452 hates winchesters and likes CCI, every gun differs... regards. chris.
  15. It was news to me, this one just ran out straight in front of my car, it must have been half cut laying in the grass at the edge of the field.... it was a Roe Buck probably from last year.. Chris
