  1. Today I made the handle a little slimmer, right now it's taking a bath in acid to darken the blade... with a 600 grit finish it doesn't look bad either! at sunset, I went hiking with my kids. Regards Nicolas
  2. Yes, I know... but ist's so sexy That's why I'll make it really small, more as a design element than functional. Regards Nicolas
  3. Thank you guys!! Yesterday I made the spacers and glued up the buffalo handle, tomorrow, hopefully I'll finish this knife! Cutting up a buffalo block filing Spacers.. fitting everything together.. ..and glue all together. As I had some time and the blade lying arround, I started with an experiment, a subhilt with a small second guard, that will allow different grips. Still a lot to do Regards Nicolas
  4. GREAT craftsmanship and design, allthough I'm more into classic, stag stuff, this knife looks really good!! Regards Nicolas
  5. Thanks Griffalo! Once finished, it will look like these, just a bit smaller.. Regards Nicolas
  6. Hello, I'm actually making a small gent knife with 1.2442 tool steel and a buffalo handle. It's for a friend of mine who likes fishing and hiking in the woods, so a small, light weight knife will be a good choice. Blade from 1.2442 tool steel at 60 HRC, 3.2" hardened blade, some german silver and buffalo Guard fitted to the tang and shoulders fit's everything cleaned up ready for solder, blade wrapped in wet cloth to prevent ruining the temper solderd and cleaned up joint I will keep you updated Regards Nicolas
  7. Thank you guys, new blades are ready for heat treatment, can't wait to make the handles, the part I enjoy most! Regards - Nicolas

  10. They look great!! I love the hammer marks left on the blade! Try to solder a brass guard to the blade and you will never have problems with fluids running into the wood. Regards Nicolas
  11. Thank you Sirs! Air gun, of course, the buffalo I bought from the UK, a truely international knife indian buffalo from UK, steel from germany, german knifemaker, made in Spain
  12. Hello, yesterday I finished this new "Herrenmesser" / Gent's knife. Blade from 1.2442 tungsten steel, soldered german silver guard, micarta and buffalo. This one has a "Scagel" style choil. Regards Nicolas
  13. Great X Bow!! As a boy (over 30years ago) I made all kind of bows, x-bows, guns, spears, sling shots.. etc. A mirracle I'm still allive as once a "gun" (steel tube closed with a screw, powder, nails...) exploded and the screw went through a 1cm thick wooden plank... imagine me aiming... Regards Nicolas
  14. Ballbearing steel is for example 52100, Bill Scagel used these steels for his knives, too! The 52100 (or 01 wich is very similar) is a great blade steel! Regards Nicolas
  15. Thank you Gruffalo, all my heat treatment are done by Rodrigo from 2Gknives, as he has years of experience and workshop. But the heat treat of the 1.2442 is not that complicated, normalizing, heat treat at 820ºC I think to remember, several anealing cycles at about 220ºC I think. Result, an amazing fine and durable edge at a 61/62HRC. Regards Nicolas
  16. Thanks you for your kind words! @ bird, I never tried to do a folder, I think my machines are not good enough to provide this total precision that you need for a perfect folder. But shure, one day I'll try Regards Nicolas
  17. Hello, this knife is basically a "Wanderer" model regarding size and blade form, but the elegant lines and appearance called for another name, so I'll call it my "Herrenmesser" / "Gentleman knife". The handle is really ergonomic, edge up or down, with thump on the spine as when you're cutting a steak, very pleasing to hold in the hand. The specs: blade 9cm from 3mm 1.2442 tungsten steel Guard from german silver, fiber, inox, micarta and black buffalo. Handle 11,8cm Weight 105gr. I hope you like this new model! Regards Nicolas

A "Wanderer" model with 9cm blade from 1.2442 and 11,5cm handle from fiber, alu, inox, micarta and buffalo I still want to lower the tip a little, the handle a little slimmer at the guard and better polish. Here my works from the last months.. Regards Nicolas
