  1. As in most things in life, you get what you pay for ! You pay peanut, you get monkeys. Having said that, there are some decent rifles that will give you change from a couple of hundred quid !
  2. *years not tears !!! Mind you.........
  3. I only wish some-one had sparked my enthusiasm all those tears ago ! Top marks
  4. I went to the doctors with stomach ache, and he asked me what I'd been eating. I said "Today I had egg on toast for breakfast, sardines on toast for lunch and mushrooms on toast for tea". "What about yesterday? " he asked me. "Well",I said" I had plain toast for breakfast, beans on toast for lunch and toatoes on toast for tea" He asked how long I'd been eating this type of diet. I told him about a month. Apparently, it's nothing to worry about - just a case of Mixing my toasties !
  5. I have 2 very small Jack Russells, so I will be following this with interest. And also - welcome and good luck, buddy !
  6. My understanding is that the disease is specific to rabbits only, so it is safe both to eat and feed to dogs etc. Cooking, of course, would kill other bacteria, but one look at a myxi rabbit is surely enough to spoil the biggest appetite ??
  7. Already dreaming up my next dumbass question ! Cheers Tim
  8. UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE Followed the advice you all gave AND managed to squeeze a bit more range from my back garden (now 19 and a bit yards with a backstop of 2 inch ply). With an hour and a half or so of shooting groups of three, checking, adjusting and repeating over and over, I thought I just about had it right. Then I got bored and discovered my wife's stash of tiny 2 inch plant pots in the shed. WAAHAAAYYYY !!! Got through about 60 pellets and haven't missed a single shot!!!!!. Probably doesn't sound like much to you guys, but considering that a couple of days ago, I couldn'
  9. Goddit ! Cheers buddy ! With the greatest of respect to you all, I think 7 pages of advice is enough for me to be going on with. I'll put it into action and come back if the problem persists. Otherwise I feel my inexperience means that I'll become "blinded by science", and I'll make the problem worse than it really is. Thanks to you all for now
  10. Again, hope I've understood you - there is a single groove running at 90 degrees across the scope rail - that's it.
  11. OK fair enough. I hope I've understood you - a single arrester pin locates into a groove at the back of the rail, and a single Allen bolt locks each mount into place. Two collars hold the scope in place, and each collar has 4 screws (so 8 in total) holding it to the mounting block. Hope that's what you're asking and sorry if my terminology is a bit poor !
  12. 4 on top of each mount, but I am more worried about the pulling sensation on my leg !!!!
  13. 4 per mount. See what I mean about that learning curve !!!
  14. This learning curve is proving steeper than anticipated. Each time I ask " How hard can it be?", the reply seems to be "Ooh, you'd be surprised!"
  15. Rear mount has an arrester pin, but thanks for thinking of it. I'm hopefully going to try it out tomorrow without the packing, and putting all the advice I've been given here into practise. Can always put it back if need be ! Cheers!
  16. So the position of the adjusters makes little difference?
  17. This such a dumbass question, I can hear the howls of ridicule...... To centralise my scope, should I re-install it with the turret adjusters at their mid-point or at their 0 setting? (they go from 0 to 14). Really sorry to keep bugging you guys with this, but as I've already said, I am an utter novice !!
  18. I'm a newbie myself, but if you have neighbours, hollowpoint pellets might prevent over-penetration? Any thoughts, anyone?
  19. Twas only 2 old goats rattling horns Craig, no point in getting older if you can't argue once in a while. Bloody hell, I even argue with myself if I can't nail someone else. My missus says I can cause a fight in a empty room!! FFS,Where will it ever end?? I think I married her sister
  20. Twas only 2 old goats rattling horns Craig, no point in getting older if you can't argue once in a while. Bloody hell, I even argue with myself if I can't nail someone else. My wife insists that I could start a row in an empty room ! Looks like she was right
