  1. Having had a call from the estate manager last night telling me there were deer all around the new seat I'd put up , & having seen the weather forecast I decided to have an early morning look to see if any were still about .Although dry at the time of leaving , 6.15am , by the time I arrived at the estate 15min later it was spitting , by the time I had walked round to the seat it was pis..n...sitting in the semi dark waiting for some light i was gratefull to my Swedish mate Per for the thin fold up insulated pad i was sitting on , just about keeping my arse of the wet seat .Twenty min la
  2. Yea well behind Phil , the farm manager rang me tonight he had just seen 50+ under the new highseat tonight , needless to say I wasn't in it .They had been working down in the woodland cutting fallen trees so this has pushed some out .I will get over in the morning but the dreaded weather forecast for the day is pants & as much as I need to cull sitting in the seat in the pouring rain is not for me any more !! .....fair weather shooter ?......to old to be anything else...
  3. Well i hope it soon slows up as i am in the high seat Tuesday after a large Boar, but not if the wind and rain keeps up lol. If it keeps on raining your be able to get it as it swims by.. ......good luck anyway....
  4. See I was thinking lurcher too but it takes a bit of feeding, plus, will it get eat with all the lions, tigers and bears there That's why I put good running dog ,anything small enough it could take , anything to big it has the brains to get the feck out of there ...or could have a bullx that would chew the arse of a cat big or small ...

  6. Hi Owen , its shite up here as well , the fields are sodden & there is running water every where . Their is no chance to get out lamping you couldn't get anywhere with a vehicle , even the quad is churning up the ground . The deer don't seem to be using their normal fields ( given the water table is at grass level) & have stayed more in the woodland were there still seems to be plenty of food .I watched that group feeding last night & in forty minutes they only moved about 30 m , seemingly finding plenty to eat .Hence the need to move the seat . While its wet here , it looks a lo
  7. I had a 16 bore .22 drilling , if it was 1 gun it would have to be that ..only gun I ever regret selling .The mate I sold it to still has it after 30 years.
  8. Could have been worse ....could have taken the bottom & left the top ...
  9. Rake, the tracks are only used for a bit of farm traffic & the deer are used to the odd tractor going up & down .They don't usually move more than a few metres unless you stop .The hardest thing is getting a clear shot , you cant see in the pictures but their is a lot of scrub & small branches in the way , I need to get in & have a clear out . The doe was shot just to the left of the road junction at about 70 m
  10. Just another cull doe taken this evening , only moved the seat to this place an hour before I shot her . I will leave it here now till the end of the season but will need to get the saw out and clear a few branches out of the way ,There were 9 does & fawns out within 20 min of getting in the seat but it took 40 min before one came clear ..gralloched she went 62lb in the chiller ..out again tomorrow if its not chucking down ...

    Amanda Knox

Yep ...I think she played a big part in the killing as well , & the chances of her going back to Italy .....got more chance of swimming the Atlantic with a cooker on your back ..!!!She will fester in the states for the rest of her natural but she will never find peace of mind , wouldn't mind betting she doesn't live a long life that sort of guilt pays a hard price
  18. Over the last few weeks I've only managed to get a few does all from high seats so their was no write up , you can only say I shot this from a seat so often ! but tonight whilst getting to the seat I spotted a small group of about a dozen does & fawns at the bottom of a field I was making for .I could see just their heads over the crest of the field , going left to right , as I watched them it was clear the last one in the line was in trouble .As she walked her head (all I could see of her) was moving in a circular motion ,obviously lame ,I got down flat & crawled forward to a mound ab
