  1. Sounds like a good day mate, well done! I'm just starting out myself, never had any big hits but also I'm a terrible shot at the moment! Hopefully one day soon...
  2. heard it's some of the best time to decoy them, haven't done it myself but my mate says if you clear a patch in a snow covered field and fill it with decoys it can be very productive. Gotta be worth a try if they are unable to feed on other fields they might be out searching and I imagine a hole in the snow covered with decoys would be highly visable from a decent distance.
  3. As a newbie I would like to recommend any of the Chris Green dvds, he makes some good pigeon dvd's and wildfowling ones that i've watched also. He seems a good bloke and they are very entertaining and full of ideas from the normal to ones that are a bit out there. I just got done watching his Crow shooting secrets revealed which is was a good watch also! Google / Youtube Chris Green shooting.
  4. Having also looked up as many answers as I can , I can also say there is no set way to do it. It seems to be alot like fishing where something that works in one lake might be completely useless in the other. Switch that for fields though
  5. I have had mine a couple of weeks now and I am still mastering it,saying that, I have had a few with it and I am getting better I think at the moment its in part somethng to do with the time of year, another month and they will start pairing up,I think thats when it will come into its own mate, Yeah I've only just started up but I've not had a massive hit of birds yet really, my friend says the same as you that hopefully the calls should come into their own once they start getting together for nesting. Going to order myself a primos now and see how we get on, appeciate the post(s).
  6. Thanks for the welcome, and yes I can't really give up fishing. Before Christmas I was hellbent for upping my pike pb then I got my shotgun license! With this mild weather I shall have to hit the lakes a bit more before the end of the season.
  7. Greetings one and all, and a happy new year to everyone. My name is James, I'm 28 from Warwickshire. Google landed me here after searching for active hunting forums. I'm new to shooting and have just recently got myself a license and my first shotgun and have been joining my friend for days decoying for pigeons and corvids and I've become hooked. Have always been an avid fisherman but I'm now worried shooting might take over! Looking into purchasing myself the decoying gear now and hopefully in time maybe obtaining my own permissions to look after. I haven't shot at a clay pigeon yet ei
  8. New to shooting / decoying myself, was just looking for a crow call as I have been joining a friend on a permission of his that's having corvid problems but I'm not pulling them in as well as I believe I could. We have been using an electronic caller but I hear the mouth calls are a lot better to use for replying or actually "talking" to the crows. Is this call a good bet for a beginner to using mouth calls then? How long do they take to master? Thanks, James
