  1. Err, yup, think thats just about what I was sayin...?.....!!!!
  2. Christ, five pages of utter shite! Some have spoke as it is and was but who's argueing, the majority speaking all seem to be the decent dog lads on here??? Simples, you can't make a distance runner out of a sprinter! Yep, you may get the exception to the rule, it's in all forms of nature BUT anyone who reads this and dosen't recognise why you'd want a crossbred over a pure, better be under 16 or needs to go back to rolling 'worms' in the white room (i gotta problem Nurse Ratched!!) Enough 'detail' is out there!!!! Our dogs have been formed by breeding the best to the best, irrispective of
  3. Me too...I've been racking my brains all afternoon and calling people. I know it's silly to get emotionally involved but it's the pups I feel concerned about. We've only bred the odd litter over the last 24 years and have had good homes lined up well before the pups were born. I think working dogs need so much more 'protection' than pet dogs. You can't get any better home for a Lurcher or Terrier than a good, knowledgable working home...however if that dog falls into unscrupulous hands, their lives can be a living hell. Ha ha, as, no matter what, i'm dog daft. Nowt stirs me quite as m
  4. I think it's a head wrecker for any decent self respecting dogman and i'd agre with you all. Bolio, that tales a sad one but your concence is clear, you know the score It's funny but the first thing I thought of when I read the ad was, would I know any decent folk who would take a pup? Sadley I don't, but dreamer that I am, I'd like to think one or two find good homes, warm beds and plenty of graft and maybe, just maybe, one might become a legend!

    Lamping

Yup, I was also out on Monday, definatley the 'right sort' of night or so you'd be led to belive but for me an Timmyk it was a poor one too, few bunnys on the ground and precious little to show for a few hours out, except for some facial sand rash and a very sore knee. I've long since given up on what would be the 'perfect' night, to me that would be the night i can stay out longer! Good write up Artic
  6. I'd agree with Simo. Thing is, not to flustrate a young dog, if you find its not catching, maybe a little more time is required or a better night or a better speck? Never overtry! Give your pup 'THE' best possible chances, he/she must go home on a 'high', either with a few successes or a few 'near' misses. Confidence, not flustration is the key!!
  7. you would be suprised bosun , its knowing were they are No mate, i wouldn't be surprised, i know what you know but i'm quoting the title and i'll stand by what I say!
  8. Sorry mate but the dog you have just discribed, to me sounds like the " one dog of a life time". And you seem to be pretty brasay about it. Did you not realise what you had? A dog of such capabilities like that doesnt come around that often. Dont tell me you have had better all rounders since, cause if you have, i want to see it work....The only thing you didnt mention was "deer" how did it fair on them? Like you said he had a bit of everything in him, which made him the allrounder he was, not just a fen dog, but enough speed and brain to run them, yet enough balls and ruggedness to cope
  9. Ok here's my two penneth worth.... Once opon a time I owned a lurcher to lurcher bred critter called Jake at 25" he had a drop of everythin in him, with a good dash of Saluki for good measure. Now Jake could kill hares, his usual grounds were the hallowed turf of Altcar estate. I'd never class him as a hare dog though he had taken up to three daytime on Altcar, to me, he was just a knockabout allrounder, that I rated as a decent fox killer on the lamp. Young back then (and living in a 'better' world!) I ran him daytime on hares from Cornwall, Wales, the Fens, the Lakes and in Scotland, from
  10. Good pics of a tidy day out Socks, do admire that black bitch of yours, thanks for shareing
  11. Da slayer Little Timmy Undisputed Stabba and a bit of Wag The only posts on here worth readin.... Honest!! As for the subject, been done to death, I don't give a flyin feck whichever way you choose to run your dogs, as long as your out there runnin 'em! But like i've always said, IT AIN'T A FOX DOG UNLESS IT CAN KILL 'EM SINGLE, SEASON IN, SEASON OUT!!!
  12. From Bolio's write up, this sounds right up my street, good stuff.
  13. Ideation, is there bull blood in the terriers make-up?? Yep, it was collie/grey who had the problem with her bull blood lurcher. If i'm right on a drop of bull blood, find and read the posts and don't give the pup any free running.
  14. Firstly, i'd agree with Lofty, our lurchers need a wider collar. From then, well it's down to the dog and what you've put in to it! I've ran with and without, 'controlability' is the key. Never had a dog 'snag' on a collar, seen plenty of collars save dogs necks on pre-ban stuff (especially bull bloods, who tend to 'grind in', laying down on quarry). Got to say, love a dog running free, without lead, without collar, going when it's required and watching a dog 'straining it's neck', the purest form of hunting! Alway's looks better collar free!! When all said an done it's down to you
  15. Click the 'brows' box on the bottom of the reply box Aussiepigger, go into your pics, select one and hit the 'attach this file' box.... Will tell ya from there if it's uploaded.
  16. Cars are just A to B things for me, so... A spankin new Legasy for me, the diesel one, pref in black, with all the extras.... An Aston Martin, Vanquish, for the Mrs, her fave cars, (I love women of simple taists!!) And, some sort of limited edition Ferrari or summat, to sell off and pay the mortgage!!
  17. Beautiful house, good result, good pics and good post Rolf, thanks.
  18. I really don't know what all the fuss is about??? The lad has put up a dog for sale, say's its a half x, if your in the market for one, go have a look at it, talk to the lad and make an informed choice from that. If not, shut up and let the lad sell his dog, you've all bought one at some time!!
  19. Know a few lads in Huyton Dotty, the Liverpool fringes are chock full of pigeon and dog men, Speke, Huyton, Netherly, the Farm, Kirkby, Netherton.... The inner city does have 'em too but it's round it's edges that these men really know & do their stuff.
  20. It's a crackin job Ronnie, especially for a first attempt, well done mate! I've done a similar design myself, with boxes that can be slept on in warmer weather and the top covered, recon thats the best for any dog.
  21. Duckwing, thank you for putting up that link, i loved it, love to see old charicters, in any field and those boys certainly are, damn interestin too, as are your other bird threds. Never kept pigeons but have known many who do, like yourself dogs and birds usually go hand in hand and growin up, Liverpool had plenty of 'wiley old boys' who kept both, still one or two about here that are worthy of a documentary too! Thanks again.
