It belongs to the shoot Dave, well sort of, only 3 of us have keys for it and I think there’s only me who puts petrol in it, but we did convince the members to let us use the shoots funds to pay for it ??

That’s like my wife’s car, only two of us have keys for it, but it’s only me who puts petrol in it?

Nice to hear that but some say they can travel another 1000 m

The sound of a .22 bullet ricochet is more pronounced than the same from an airgun pellet, but they are losing energy rapidly and will soon fall to earth. Bullets silently skimming off short grass will travel further, but after another 100 yards they’ll most likely be back on the ground depending on the angle of course. I’ve seen the damage they do 50 yards beyond ricochet point and I’d estimate 20-25 ft lbs residual energy from a standard subsonic bullet. No room for complacency but so long as you’ve got a safe back drop, as with any shot with any gun.?. You soon get to know them.?

Thing is I don’t know how much I would use .22 lr . These slugs are something else , even out at 120 yards . Did some more testing with 217 size slugs yesterday and not the 218 , my god the groups became even tighter and I mean tighter , with in 5 pence coin . Just wandering what .25 slugs will be like when they come out ,running @ 1040 FPS through the impact and this is my predicament about buying .22lr

Yep, these guns such as the crown etc are something else when it comes to airgun performance. I use reduced velocity.22 rimfire ammo in some situations for similar reasons. I have some smaller areas of land where something like an fac crown would be ideal, and I intend to get one. The z langs do the job though, these were taken on a smaller area of land where I wouldn’t have wanted to use 100ft lb 40 grain subs, but a 12ft lb air rifle wouldn’t have been enough.

  4. My thoughts regarding fac air and slugs is, whilst I’m interested in the performance attainable with some of these fac air rifles, I can achieve very similar using z langs etc from a .22 rimfire. Easy, cheap, no hassle. As much as I love airguns, and always have, I don’t know how much point there is in chasing rimfire performance from them. .22 rimfires are very versatile, and can be run from 20 to 30 ft lbs using cb caps and cb longs etc, up to nearly 200 ft lbs hyper velocity. So I’d say yes, buy a .22 rimfire and you can have plenty of fun finding out. Just my opinion, others might think I’m talking bo11ock5? but I’m a rimfire nut.

is that live or dead ? when i had ferret , i fed day old chicks, all dead though , when i had no rabbits to feed it. he got a point though regards rats really, because  most people like my self view rats as dirty disease  vermin , which they are . But the animals joe public like pure on there  appearance ( foxes, hares, rabbits, and not forgetting mr brock badger ) go to top of the class, poor old mr ratty   right bottom of the class , you can bet your bottom dollar , that there never be a ban with dogs hunting rats , like there been the other 3 .???

Yerr, that would be a step too far. I don’t think rats will ever be in great favour with joe public ?

  7. I hope everything goes well with your daughters recovery Jimmy, I understand your anguish. Our daughter spent three weeks critically ill in intensive care and the another week in another hospital in recovery. It’s a terrible and frightening time I know, as Jonjon says, it’s amazing what these doctors and nurses can do these days. All the very best to you and your family.

Fit yourself , one person is making them in the uk at the moment , he does some great stuff for crown and impact

At the moment I am running my at 925 FPS about 40 fpe , but when my probe and TP arrive should be getting about 43 ish fpe

I will test energy range when the bits are fitted with pellets , has you really need high eights to run slugs

Nice one vm, it will be interesting to see how you get on will both pellets and slugs?
