Me and the Wife, don't get to any shows these days,...but we used to get about a fair bit,.. and these days out, were frequently used for arranging trips out with pals, and for discussing tactics,.. etc...
I've also been privileged to Judge most of the large Lurcher Shows,..
In the early days ,.dogs would often turn up in a right old state,..(and this was not always due to hard work in the field) it was often down to neglect and ignorance. I always made it abundantly clear that whilst scars and marks on a dog were 100% invisible to me,...everything else was not...
Folk sometimes become confused and fondly imagine that a Lurcher show is to do with working ability,. but this is a misnomer...it is a beauty contest, plain and simple,.so when Miss World enters the ring for my appraisal,.. she sure as hell better have a crisp clean coat, free of fleas,.. and preferably,. not limping
One can take a Lurcher show as serious, as one wants to,....
Nice arse

I don’t think it’s a load of crap Drove, I met up with friends from around the country who have genuine working dogs and we had a great day. We were out in the countryside with like minded people, the judging was just incidental, we didn’t care about it.
It slightly annoys me that people denigrate lurcher shows. Just because we go to the odd show doesn’t mean we are “lesser” dog men, we are just meeting up with like minded people…at least we are not summer hunting and bragging about it on social media, and of course I’m not referring to you, as I know you are a genuine lad……. But live and let live, ehh ?Cheers.
I’ve always seen shows as a social avent, a day oot and most importantly a bit of fun, ave never quite got the Billy big balls, you canny eat rosettes brigade.

How’s everyone doing? Back 15-20 years ago I had multiple accounts on here. Was very friendly with a few names. Met life long friends and had some cracking sport with the dogs.
I haven’t been on here for a while, I presumed with fabeook etc this site kind of fizzled out.
I’m just a law abiding rabbiting man nowadays. Bad time to choose so, with rabbit numbers being on their arse nationwide pretty much.
But the past 2 years I’m starting to notice them again in places they’ve been nonexistent in for 10+ years. I’m my opinion, they are starting to make a return. At least they are around my neck of the woods.
What’s everyone else’s thoughts? Is the humble rabbit making a return?
attached a picture of my 11 month old pup. He’s collie whippet. So far making a prefect rabbit chaser.
That you Greb?

Decent beddy blood as been thin on the ground for years I personally think the only way to get decent beddy blood in Lurchers is from beddy bred Lurcher bitzas only problem is with beddy Lurcher’s is people are hung up on the f1 or 1/4 bred thing
The 1/4 bred thing, haven’t seen a 1/4 bred beddy greyhound since spud lined a greyhound in the ninetes

Caterpillers dog and on the last pic the dog has seen someone on the horizon and you can see how the dog has tucked himself in to the lad, that is the cattle dog trait we've been talking about.
As for learning here's the same dog as a pup not 3 mins after meeting a ferret for the very first time

About 9 months ago while at my work I seen a Berdie collie working some sheep, it was very quick, agile and it’s slight built was very impressive but it did have a hint of merle colouring to its coat and the merle eye, it was very similar to the dog above.

Their is a decent lad from Barnsley who has a good line of brocken coated dogs that he has had for years it's a pity he is not on hear and seeing pictures of them on some Facebook sites they are worked regular they are not big dogs and of a similar size to your bitch mate. A dog out of his breeding might be just the ticket in producing what you want if there is anyone who has a dog and will stud it out.
How are they bred?

Since liebour brought in the hunting ban they’ve never stopped chipping away and will increase their efforts now they’re back in
