  1. Border x Patterdale Pups

Border x Patterdale pups. 10 weeks old. 2 black dog pups available. Both parents good bolting and bushing dogs. Sire Border x Russell and mother is Border x Patterdale. We’ve bred and worked this type for a long time and found them good all round working terriers. Not out and out digging dogs but very useful. Good working homes please. Call 07968898455 for more information.

Pointless, a better idea would be a petition to remove licencing decisions from Natural England and put them into the hands of a directly accountable, neutral government body.

Crack on then and sort it out. Action needed not just good ideas. In the meantime support whatever other ways of expressing our views as you can. The petition in support of further restrictions currently stands at about 260,000 whilst only about 3,000 have signed this petition. Apathy will not save our legal pest control activities.

  3. we are at the end of our season now, apart from call outs. it has been an eventful season to say the least more to do with home life rather than the dogs but they have also had a few moments!!

having time to look back and reflect there is one little bitch that has really impressed me this season. she is a little home bred bitch we bred amongst me and my digging partner. she has been a very steady bitch and has taken everything into her stride. she has been called up on more than I would of liked this season to be honest due to a couple of my other Russels deciding to be a little more hands on than normal.

she is an ugly bitch in truth and certainly wont win any shows.......but then again good looks don't dig foxes!

its always nice when a pup you bred is doing the business and I must admit I have a sneaky smile to my self when I hear her baying the way she does, as she is a proper chip off the old block!

Good to see the Russells working and well done for bringing on another one. Cheers

mr breay and buck said they didnt use a drop of bull blood, sparrow said use it as a out-cross every 10 generations. nuttall said the bull terrier needs a drop of patterdale not the other way-around.

good bull terrier is a good out-cross, as many benifits, but i think a terrier should work at its

quarry, inculding voice, bull cross are often to hard.work their quarry differently, i prefer the

    true terrier style.

a local lad as a chocolate patterdale, 15 inch, smooth coated, just looks like a small staffy, its

a stunning dog, some would argue that there is too much bull in them already ?

    horses for courses...

    kev-medlock crew

I think thats the problem, too many think that's what a working terrier 'should' look like and breed for it regardless of working ability. All fueled by some of the names mentioned..!

Totally agree with you. Many people are more worried about what a terrier should look like than how well it works. Also hardness is usually more valued than good sense and finding ability which is much more important in a good terrier seeing regular work.

  5. Found a good shovel at £20 plus £8 postage from Ken Taylor supplies 01706 643 167. Made by Carter Shovels. Have a look on (richardcarterltd.co.uk). All steel round mouth shovel with treads. Product number is GENSSMY. Looks good and solid but will test it out from October onwards. We also broke a Silverline shovel last year so have been looking for something a bit more solid. Cheers.

It is not worth doing mate unless you put it on clean metal,a much better alternative is to spray your vehicle with some Fresh oil underneath so it soaks into all the seams and into the chassis.

That is definitely sound advice and I have also mixed new engine oil with grease (50:50) and slapped that all over chassis etc but avoid rubber hoses as some can react to oil. It will eventually wear off a bit and you may need to do it a couple of times a year, but the metal underneath it will stay like new and is definitely better than waxoyl... but a bit of a messy job. Cheers.
