  1. I'd disagree. The average person out there on the street will automatically back a ban, as they assume any form of hunting is cruel, based on ignorance. Unfortunately democracy doesn't protect a minority culture from prejudice and interference from a majority who isn't effected.
  2. Best digging boots to last you are the fell boots, can't break them. For general hunting and digging I e got the hanwag alaska, real solid pair.
  3. I've heard some Gard's are known to lift terriers off lads to benefit themselves. Corrupted isn't the word, theyre lying bent thugs in uniform, nothing like the police, you'd be the easy man to catch if you retaliated.
  4. I’d have said yeah no bother, then carried on as I do and he wouldn’t be the wiser ?
  5. They’re a cracking bunch of pups, the two pups posted there are very much like the father, he’s an impressive looking dog and a good temperament, suprised they haven’t been snatched up by now!
  6. Anywhere without eleccy fences
  7. Nice bitch, is she a pure or is she saluki grey bred?
  8. Is it not a hotspot? Just with the long coat it has.
  9. Buzzards everywhere, they’re bold too, used to be wary of people now they’ve no bother being above you.
  10. He’s just a sour man and it comes across in the posts. I’ve no problem with lads out shooting for enjoyment but it’s a bit unreasonable for the lad to be slating dog lads especially when he effects their sport more than they effect his.
  11. You and the likes are bad news for everyone who’s into hunting. Bitter. I’ve never understood why a hunting lad can feel so pissed by others out hunting with their dogs, they usually want everything to themselves. Fact is the population is down like you say. a rifle man can take a lot of foxes, one man with one gun, which is very common place. Now a fox pack can take good numbers up to 100 a season but there’s not many fox packs doing the job and doing it well, so there’s no comparison when it comes to who’s causing the damage to the population. The cover lads have been at that craic for many
  12. Fox numbers are down here too, still there but not many. rabbits seem on the rise though.
  13. I’ve found some places the shake works well, others it makes no difference, suppose it depends on if they’re lamped before
  14. A dog will have 20 generations at least! of dilution in a century, humans might possibly only have 3. Worth a thought.
  15. I have done but I wouldn’t do it anymore either, but there’s some sport you walk past if you don’t. Few rock spots at home and the lads who braved them would be getting many more foxes than the lads checking earths. Respect to the lads who do it!
  16. Instant ? nothing great about it, Maybe that’s where your coming unstuck, hence relying on antibiotics. I wouldn’t leave anything in a wound after a dig, that’s why they don’t get infected. One day they may do and I’ll be the first to use them, but I’d never use them as a preventative measure because that is misusing them, eventually rendering them useless.
  17. I think some lads assume that antibiotics aid in recovery time of a wound. If there’s no infection present they’re not doing anything but harm. And I’d be the first to say, if I see infection I will get the dogs antibiotics but I’d rather prevent with cleaning than rely on them.
  18. Save an infection from taking place by cleaning, antibiotics are only for use when infection is there and won’t shift. No poodles here, had hard dogs, as hard as any. Antibiotics aren’t a painkiller, and if you clean the wound and rinsed of infection they’re of no use are they.
  19. Here here, im proud to say I’ve never used or needed to use any penicillin or antibiotics on a dog as I’ve always thoroughly cleaned them after work. Seen many a lads dogs need it all because they don’t clean them like they should. I’d say it makes for a more resistant hardy dog in the long run, antibiotics kill the good bacteria also which over time isn’t good.
  20. You definitely don’t know if something is at home or not unless you have a 100% dog, yes you might be right most of the time like myself but the old dog can surprise you and tell you different, unless your out with an experienced dog you can’t accuse the pup of doing anything wrong. If the dog is going to ground with nothing at home it might have been over encouraged, I wouldn’t let mine off unless they give a strong mark on the lead. I’d leave it off until you can ask someone out with you who has an older dog.
  21. I wouldn’t try too hard to stop a terrier pulling on the lead, you can use positive or negative training methods and the outcome will still be a terrier that pulls on a days hunting. I prefer to Walk the pup In a quiet spot where you don’t meet people, people are a nuisance when out on a walk.
  22. Recipe for disaster kennelling a terrier with a lurcher pal. Many a good quiet terriers killed in those circumstances
