  1. Yeah mate but after a few hours if you get a variable lamp you can dim it to save power
  2. Depends on the ah of the battery a 18ah will last all night if fully charged before you go out , ive got 2 7ah running in a parralell circut and that lasts atleast 5 hours
  3. I havent measured him tbh mate he short leg type ill get the tape out and let you know lol
  4. Whats wrong with throwing a ball ? My daughter throws a ball for my dogs and they love it or would you prefer to let your dogs be bored when they aint working
  5. Whippet or a whippet x would do the job for ferreting , if you wanted to lamp then id get something a bit taller like a collie/grey Atb Trinder
  6. I got my dog at 13months old and he has come on realy well, he came from a bad pet home and all he has known since he came to me is work and he loves it , he doesnt switch off ever it can be quite embarassing when im walking the dog up the canal with my daughter and he pulls ducks out of hollows in the bank . If the dog is unspoiled 100% then it can be a good worker but buying a dog thats been entered is a mine field cause as said you could be buying someone elses problem
  7. Seasons over till september mate but you cant go wrong with a lightforce striker 170 and a 18ah lead acid battery or a lithium battery if you can afford one cause they aint cheap Atb Trinder
  8. My sisters pure border collie did ok on the lamp her boyfriend brings her out now and again ferreting and bushing with my dogs and his saluki x , she marks , bushes quite well and isnt shy when it comes to getting bit back she is farm bred from working sheep dogs so that probably made a difference Atb Trinder
  9. Crackin looking bitch mate id say russell/lakie but that dont mean shit aslong as she performs well Atb Trinder
  10. Buy or borrow a locator mate he will be fine just dont enter him in undigable or dodgey spots such as rock faces or sandy soil cause it could turn very bad very quick Atb Trinder
  11. Nice one mate sometimes it takes a while to click but as soon as it does there will be no going back . I was quite suprised by one of my dogs today , he is 2 ,has never worked and is a complete idiot of a dog , the only reason i havent found him another home is cause he is really good with my daughter and she loves him . I took my 2 terriers and lurcher for a quick walk and my working terrier marked a rat hole by a stream so i egged him on and my non working dog flew over and started digging to the rat like mad i was shocked as this dog looks ats brambles and walks off lmao , he dug to it a
  12. The breeds are very kc influenced these days mate ive never head of a working strain Atb Trinder
  13. Id be devastated if i dug 10ft for a rabbt but i hunt alot of earth drains that have been added onto by rabbits but hold reds aswell so its only a few ft to dig if dog goes in while ferreting the warrens around them
  14. Have you taken the pup out with older dogs that are working buster , i found this helps a young dog realise what is expected of it
  15. I agree mate but most people dont see it that way , ive met lad that wouldnt give a dog kennel space if it even looked at a rabbit which is ok if your a keeper and need a pure fox dog , i like a terrier to be able to do various jobs mine even retrieves shot squirells lol only when he feels like it though lol . Atb Trinder
  16. In an ideal world mate yes but thats not my point , most terrier men want a fox dog not a dog that you have to dig to to find a rabbit being munched on , plus if its not from digging stock that lowers the chance of said dog making it as a purely digging dog , dont get me wrong my terrier works rabbit and goes to ground but is only learning how to work below and tbh im not that botherd if i had to dig to a bunny
  17. Bbb was on about digging , to be honest mate unless he works fox i doubt anyone on here would want to put him over their bitch , not that there is anything wrong with rabbiting terriers they do the job their trained for to a good standard but its all patterdales n lakeys on here finding a well bred russell for earth work is hard enough without putting rabbit dogs in the mix Atb Trinder
  18. im a keeper so have to keep ontop of them plus lots of callouts. fair enough obviously you dont realy have a close season then lucky git lol
  19. thats basicly what im doing but was just wondering if anyone had any regemes they do to keep their dogs in working condition all year round
  20. is that on a callout bassis or you just dont stop? most of my dogs work is bushing and when all the cover has grown back its imo a bit much to ask of him plus game isnt exactly plentyfull where i live and i dont want to ruin my sport for next season
