  1. Showed it to an RFD who is not a million miles away, he looked through the scope and said that it outperformed glass that he has seen recently that cost three times as much. He is now chatting to the importer and is looking at carrying at least 2 of the scopes, a cheap one (VT-R) and a more expensive one. Can't get much more of an endorsement than that really.
  2. What cheaper Hawkes? Since they axed the HD range they are now all mid priced bloody Hawkes. Nothing under £100! Here is a link to Hawkes website, the cheapest Airmax.... https://uk.hawkeoptics.com/airmax-2-7x32-amx.html £140!!! or https://sureshot-airguns.co.uk/product/vt-2-3-12x44-sfir/ your choice, but dont forget mounts, you'll need some with the Hawke...
  3. Yes it is! I am not taking it off though, it was a bit of a struggle to get on in the first place!
  4. £140 for a side focus, ir, 3-12 x 44 with flip up caps, side wheel and mounts is not dear... My Hawke Nite Eye has to be knocking on the door of a decade old and that was over £200 when we bought it! A base Airmax is £140, thats without mounts, side focus, adjustable optics, IR, side wheel, x12 magnification, 44mm objective, flip up endcaps....
  5. Going to chase a couple of other paddock owners, see how their populations are. But rabbit numbers have really been hit round here. It isn't mixy, no bodies anywhere.
  6. First trip back to the woods I did manage to get this tree rat..
  7. Thats a sight that makes you smile! Some good shooting there....
  8. Shotgun 60 yards has about the right spread on it! With a BB gun all you would do is seriously piss the swan off and wind up getting a hammering off it, they can be nasty b*****ds.
  9. Things are good, Mary has been put on insulin and seems to be getting a lot better. It is a decent rangefinder, Japanese optics! Accurate too. I don't want to spend a lot because the moment I do, my other bloody rangefinder will turn up!
  10. When I see evidence of rabbits I will. On the main permission it looks like VHD has kicked the crap out of the rabbit population!
  11. never got any messages mate! Sigh, if it was text I think I changed me number....
  12. I'm using google photos, so will attach here...
  13. Is that any better? Tried something other than Google Photos! Also attached them!
  14. As my fifth decade looms less than 3 months away I have decided that my brain is turning to mush. I put my hunting stuff away, now I cannot find my bloody rangefinder. I have torn the house, shed, garage apart, can I find it? Can I buggery. I have used a bit of string (30 metres of Corlene) to set up the rifle scopes before I went all musical on them and got the Discovery, so I wanted to get another rangefinder. Problem is Mole is a tightwad. The ones on ebay started at about £70, plus postage, so I scanned the free ads again. On Gumtree I espied something the side of a miner's lunchbox,
  15. I was hoping for one, but IR was wanted, Christmas is coming and we live app 40 miles from one of the Discovery importers... The VT-R 2 is superb value for money.
  16. Most of us have done that, which is why I always fill up when I come home....
  17. I don't know MTC prices, my eyes hate their glass....
  18. Christ on a bike, seems like only yesterday that he was still "Little Hunter". Always nice to get the first with a new gun...
  19. If you compare Discovery to Hawke on a £ for £ basis, you realise how overpriced Hawke are now.
  20. Things got in the way of shooting Jimmy, it's good to be back though!
  21. Finally got out hunting again (yay) after a change of glass. Wanted IR, but Hawke no longer do the SR6 and the prices they want for a scope is eye watering. Found something and after a musical glass session I had a new scope to zero in, which took but a few minutes, then into the woods. The new optics worked well in low light levels, I got 5 out the trees, the scope seemed easier to use on those threading through the branches shots. So Mole has finally been weaned off Hawke.... And is finally back out in the woods... F
