Why on earth the GCWT insist on building those half tonne monstrosities for catching mink I will never know. Yes they work but they are completely unnecessary
Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday wouldn't have built anything so big

Just squeeze it back together again - they were made to come apart. You can see how the other side looks so it shouldn't take much thought as to how it should look

I don't think so, they are almost perfectly round and not big enough either
The grebe's eggs are not quite eliptical - so they don't fit shape wise either
I still reckon it's a duck egg of some kind

I have caught plenty of jays in maize baited multi-catch cage traps set for squirrels - maybe there is scope for catching them in a basic funnel ground entry cage baited as above?

Since the 'swap' category got pulled, what is wrong with a two part option - dogs/livestock for sale, and general for sale

Cage traps have never been much good for rats. Fact. They are neophobic creatures and suspicious by nature. The very design of a cage trap goes against their heightened caution. Young grey rats will go in, but you will struggle to catch the adults.
Try a couple of well placed and correctly set spring traps such as the Fenn Mk 4 and you will do much better for the same outlay. They are far more versatile too.
