  1. Hello mate, Ive heard of this lake from a while back, are you ready for this. Its £60 for 12 hours or £100 for 48 hours, there is said to be cats in there up to 100lb but ive never fished there (wouldn't pay those sort of prices) Dont know any more than this. Atb. Neil.
  2. To be honest i used to rack my brains trying to think of a new "wonder" bait for them that no one else had thought of, then as i said a mate of mine was fishing next to me one evening for carp and he had a twenty pound cat on a couple of grains of sweetcorn Thats not to say those baits wouldn't work i reckon they would but its more of a case of being in the right place at the right time. Ive had a second rod go off while ive been playing a fish a few times and i may have been sitting there for a couple of days without a run. I also know one lake that i used to fish where no one would have a
  3. Hello mate, They can come out on any bait really, and i have personally seen them come out on sweetcorn! My personal favourites would be squid, raw pigs liver and if there isnt too much small stuff in your lake i would fish half a tin of luncheon meat on a long hair with a nice big hook to match the size of bait your using. Rods i would say at least 2.5 test curve upwards but the most important thing would be 20lb new line, strong hooks and really reliable knots. All these will be tested to the limit when you hook one. Hope this is helpful, good luck. Neil.
  4. I always found the best bait to be a sardine for getting runs
  5. Hello mate, its a place in Essex called Crowsheath. I did a couple of seasons on there, didnt do any last year but im going to dust off the rods again this summer. They are proper grown on english cats (if there is such a thing) atb. Neil.
  6. Am a bit bored tonight so i thought i would put some of my fish on

  8. Mine was a terrier that i was told was saff x jrt but im sure had Lakeland in him, that was when i was about 13, used to use him for ratting and bushing rabbits with my mates had a nice little pack between us jrt, mongrel and two lurchers an airdale/greyhound and a whippet/greyhound. Used to be ratting every night after school and rabbiting from morning till night at the weekends. Those were the days
  9. Now that sound like a plan! I have 2 brothers And a cheque would be nice for mum, ( I would not have paid in the 1st place for such a cock up) although it won't bring her dog back, she could put this money towards a nice plaque for him ect
  10. Thanks for a quick response, I didn't think I would have replies that quick . My mum wanted it to be over quickly, but where we live everything goes into lockdown at 5oclock so to call another vet out she was unsure of how long that would have taken. I am defo taking it further, thanks for all the advice, I feel a bit better knowing it's not just us that have experienced problems. I have never experienced this before, so I was unsure if it was bad vet practice or whether it was a common incident. I wanted to get my facts/rights straight before storming into the vets, I did feel it was bad prac
  11. My mum's dog was poorly, one day he was ok, the next he wouldn't get up! Mum was hand feeding him & giving him water. She took him to the vet, where they done a blood test, and temperature check, the vet concluded he had a bug, so he prescribed some medication, and gave him and injection to bring his temperature down. Mum was sent away with her dog. As the days went by, he seemed to be recovering, he was getting up, gradully walking further and further, then next thing we know, he was even worse than ever and was yelping when he moved. Mum took him back to the vet, where they took xrays an
  12. Hiya Ive often thought the same thing, i think an irish terrier would make a nice cross with a whippet, but you never see them. When i was a kid there was a lady that walked one over our local country park and that was always taking rabbits, i really wanted that dog. I think in the end she stopped taking it over there because it kept bringing her back dead rabbits lol. Always wondered if they would be any good having a straight one to work cover, but thats an expensive experiment. Got myself a greyhound, beddy x whippet instead. she is nearly 4 months now, will put up pics on here as soon
  13. attachment=146176:trixie bb.jpg Hi everyone Ive recently joined this forum and i wanted to practice putting on a picture, this is (hopefully) my 12 week old Whippet, Beddy, Grey x Whippet. Hope to get some better pics up soon but just wanted to have a go, cheers. Neil.
  14. Like the sound of that, ive recently got myself a beddy, whippet greyhound x whippet, she is my 1st lurcher, she is 12 weeks old. Ive got the recall going well and she will sit and lay down, she is also kind of retrieving a toy, sort of gallops at me and chucks it at me lol. Must admit i thought she was going to be harder to train than she is, i was going to hold out for something with a bit of collie in, but when i saw her i had to have her. I will be using her for ferreting and general mooching about, may also try her at lamping. Ive also got a two year old staff that works the bushes so im
  15. Yes mate, I've read about that, but don't she need her booster in 2 weeks time?
  16. Hiya all, hope someone can help me on here, ive just been to get my 12 week old lurcher pup vaccinated today, and she seems to be experiencing some discomfort and keeps yelping and crying. My girlfriend said that she didnt want to reach down to eat her dinner when she fed her as if her neck was sore. The vet never mentioned this and i was wondering if this was normal. This is her 1st injection. Neil.
  17. Loch Awe is stunning, the shallow areas around Kilchurn Castle are a good bet in spring, fished there a few times there myself,
  18. Hello Everyone Im new to this site, been reading up for the last couple of weeks and seeing that its such a good site with plenty of activity have decided to join. I live near Clacton on sea, North Essex and ive just got myself a 12 week old lurcher which i plan to use for ferreting and a bit of general mooching. She is whippet beddy grey x whippet, what do you guys think? Good choice? I wanted a broken coated whippet sized dog just for rabbits. Also do a bit of rough shooting with air rifles and plenty of fishing so theres loads on here to keep me occupied when im not out. Ive always had do
