  2. The best time to go out mate is when it suits you, the rabbits could be in or out at anytime of the day but a good marking dog is the key to success. Just go out at different times and see whats best in your area, we usually go first light and make a day of it, afterall its supposed to be enjoyable whenever or whatever you do.

Good luck to you and keep us informed.

i will do im planning on getting out this weekend at first light and making a good day of it . cant wait :D . i'l take the camera this time

    thanks for advise atb sam

  3. hi sam, i've a HW100 and all i can say mate is that as efficient hunting PCP's go, theyre superb- as accurate and consistant as you could ever want, and well worth the money.

not as much fun as a '95, but thats a personal thing- if its a pcp you want, and you like the feel of it, you'd be hard pushed to find better buddy.

    cheers,wurz

i'm thinking of applying for a fac can these hw 100's be tuned up ??? what kind of power will it kick out ? i know it will decrease the amount of shots i get but i dont need many shots ! i just dont want to have to buy another gun later on down the road.

  4. Dont know much about the stealth mate........But why would you wanna swap your fx 2k?

If you push the boat out a little more another 100-200 quid you could buy a Air Arms,or a second had HW.Atleast with these rifles your getting build quality and accuracy

i was thinking about getting a hw100(£750) and i'v been to gun shop and played with one it feels great to handle and sits nice in the shoulder, im not happy with the fx2k i dont like the build quality and its a wee bit loud even with the moderator . does any 1 have any views on the hw100 ???

  5. took my lurcher out with the ferrets this morning and found an earth with about 30 holes bolted a black rabbit and the lurcher coursed him to the top of the field picked him up and retrieved him live to hand! i had six more after that one and sam picked up a couple of mixie ones. i was well pleased with him.

well done mate sounds like ya had a good time. ps good name for the dog  atb

  6. my 2 have the run of a large shed 4.5m x 2.1m and thay know that when i turn the big light off i am then going to open the door so they make a bolt for the door . also when my hob nips me a bit to hard and i scream like a girl he squints coz he thinks he going to get twated on the nose lol so i'd say they are very bright .

  7. i went out on my first trip yesterday with both my ferrets and a mk3 locator, after about 10 mins he had stopped coming out of the holes, so out come the ferret finder , we located him 3 ft down and started to dig to find him backed up on 2 bunnys , if we never had the locator he'd prob stil be down there with enough food to last him 2 weeks , i know there expensive but there worth there weight in gold mate . atb

  8. to hock a rabbit make a slit with your knife between the major bone [femur]of one hind leg and the tendon which lies directly behind it.to locate the correct position take hold of a hind leg to find the hock.you will see a long deppression of skin which a knife can easily make a slice. when you have put a slice in you can put the foot of the other hind leg through it.you can then put them on a stick etc if you wish to carry them this way . hard for me to explain if someone showed you it would take seconds all the best.

thanks darbo that makes sence and i understand it now , i'l have a go next time .

  9. thanks for all the replys and info guys its all being taking in. its all making sence sort of lol.

cant wait to get out there and get some pic's.

ps how does one hock the bunnys legs ??? i over heard someone talking about hocking the legs and im unsure about this ???

    any ideas people ???

  10. Good going mate and sounds like your hob was over excited at being out or maybe knew there where more rabbits in there ,you could have sat back for ten minutes and let him work threw the burrow again blowing his steam off then backfilled the hole you dug

yeah he was excited alrite ! the little f****r was buzzing about like a [bANNED TEXT] nutter on turbo mode lol

how long does it normally take to clear a burry ? or is it a case of how long is a bit of string ???

  11. hi all this is my first post on the site, i'v been a member for a few months and have been absorbing imformation  .

i have two ferrtes a hob and jill, today was my first outing so me and my nephew loaded up the van and off we went .

the first warren showed no joy but the second was very interesting with 1 bolt and then silence for about 15 mins :hmm: ,

so out come the mk3 FF and he was about 3' down and not moving ! we dug him out to find him killing 2 rabbits. as we removed the 1st bunny it gave the impression it was dead but as soon as we let go it bolted, we took no chances with the 2nd tho it was dispached befor letting go ! after that we decided it was enough for our 1st outing and decided to call it a day. one problem was that my hob didnt want to come out i even tried putting the bunnie in the hole and letting him lock on but as soon as we pulled him to the surface he let go . eventually i managed to grab him and we made our way home .
